Korrik holds up the bottle triumphantly. He'll set it back inside one of the crates after Ben has a look.
"I agree we can get coin for that gear, even if none of us can use it, but we know there's guys down here, I'd rather come back to it, unless we think he might have something in his pack we can use. Good job on the fireplace Ben, figured there must be, since that trapdoor has to come down somewhere else. We ready to go in? Don't know how loud this door's gonna be, might wake 'em all up..."
Ash whispers, “I’ve seen maggots like that before. We should be okay, for now, as long as we don’t disturb the body... ... but like you, I think we need to think of a way of getting that armour. I wonder if there’s a way to destroy the maggots without destroying the armour. Burn the body? I think we come back to it. Anything we do now risks alerting anyone inside this place”.
Ash takes a look at the secret door and checks for traps...
((If it's by the fireplace it probably would be. That's where we're all standing and whispering. The body seems to be the last thing of note inside it.))
((How rough does the body look? Is it in 'haul back to town and see if anyone recognizes them' shape, or too far gone?))
"Ben can just call their mom mean names until they pop, right?"

If the door isn’t trapped, and if it’s outside of the silence, Ash will prick her ears up and try to listen for anything beyond the fireplace and the door...
"Once we're in, if we can do it quick and quiet, we could take out any light sources if they're humans. Leave them as unable to see in the dark as Ess and I are normally."
Ben, when you inspect the bottle you ascertain that it is a rare vintage worth approximately 50gp to the proper buyer.
The fireplace and secret door are indeed outside of the spell range. The body looks to be about several weeks old. It's really bad.
Ess listens up to Ash"EW, yeah I'm not touching that with a 10ft pole. Although dudes, imagine if we could clean up the armor like you say Ben? I think it'd fit me guys! Hell, nothing would be able to get through those plates!"He seems excited about this possibility but remains quiet with his whispers.
The secret door is not trapped after Ash thoroughly inspects it and how it is made and how it functions.
Ash, you do hear a sort of rustling around every few moments and can assume that there is at least one person beyond the door, but you can't make out anything more than that.
Ess quietly draws his longsword and holds it with two hands, waiting to charge through the door should one of the others open it. "Quick and quiet. Got it. Ash, that door isn't trapped right? You dudes want me to open it? Should open easy enough yeah?"
Ash whispers, “Everyone ready?”. Then then to Korrik, “Together?....let’s go!...”. And ((assuming there are no objections and everyone is ready and in place)) between them, they open the doorway...

Ben eyes Ess's spindly arms and legs when he says he wants to wear the heavy armor but remains quiet on the topic for now buts nods approvingly at the wine, whispering,
"That wine is worth quite a bit! You only found one?"
Ben whispers before they head in,
"If there is only person, or a couple in there, I will try to charm them. If there is more...well we'll see."
Ben is a step behind them and tries to cast charm person on the first non-party members that he can see if there are two or fewer people, preferably before things become a fight. Before he tries to charm, he will target one person and say, at a normal volume,
"Wow, you actually decided to wear that today?"
((Watch there be an entire room full of people. Lot of conditionals based on their not being many in there but hopefully it speeds the encounter along.
If there are 1 or 2 people in the room they will need to make a DC13 wisdom save. Your call if they have advantage on the roll if it has escalated to a fight directly (not is best :D).
The one that Ben insulted will need to subtract: 2 from their saving throw for unsettling words.
I added the source of the insult reduction and clarify some points and it changed the roll? It was a 1. I need to add that stuff in another post like you do Klein.))
"what bro... you don't think it'd fit me? Look at these guns bro!" and Ess flexes his spindly arms.
Ok, Ash and Kay are able to get the door open almost as silent as if Kay's spell was around them! Ben would be a step behind them, and Ess bringing up the rear.
The door opens, and I have uncovered what you can now see on the map. It is a torchlit chamber with all of the things on the map that you can see within. I will go into further details once we deal with the next thing that Ash and Kay notice, which is a single man messing around in the washbasin by the fire.
So, the stealth checks were good to go for the door. The man didn't hear the door open, and Ash and Kay were able to make it into the room before the man notices. However, this is the moment initiative kicks in. The man is pretty close to the door, and while he didn't hear or see it open, he's going to see two people come into the room.
There will be a surprise round for the party.
The perception checks I'm afraid will have to be rolled again after this sequence is dealt with because I don't think you'd be able to get a true sense of the room before this conflict starts.
May as well let me know the actual move as well since they will all happen first during the surprise round! It's just the order of them that will need to be determined.
((Before a fight goes down he would like to charm the guy and he would get that -1 to his wisdom save! Since it is happening before the guy is aware he should have advantage.

((Far enough down that I'll hold off and see what the others do first. Is that torch the only light source? I don't know if Korrik can see it from here, but if/when he can, is it bolted to the wall, or just in a holder that it could be removed from?))
Knowing Ben’s prowess with a charm spell first hand, Ash would look back to the bard and then nod towards the guy, as if to say, “go for it!”...
But she draws a dagger nonetheless, (behind her back... we’re all friendly here!), and moves round behind the character by the wash basin (within melee range). She’s ready to act in case the charm doesn’t take hold...
Action: Ash readies a melee attack (non-lethal) with the blunt end of her dagger. With the trigger being: as soon as an ally is within melee with the guy too and only if the charm doesn’t work...
((edit... just also noticed that readying like this, it may mean she gets another action almost straight after, before the guy even gets a go! I hope that charm spell works, or he is going to be a mess! Alive, but a mess!))
((Yeah, there's not officially such a thing as a Surprise Round™ in 5e, but there can be a 'round in which one or more individuals are surprised'. A lot of people do a surprise round that happens before initiative is rolled, but that's not 'correct'. Klein's all over it, even if using older version terms! The main functional difference, as I understand it, is that surprised individuals are no longer surprised after their turn in initiative comes up, so they can then make use of their reaction. So if the cosplayer goes, and then one of us tries to move past him and out of his range, he could take an opportunity attack in that first round, or if he's a caster, he could throw up a shield in response, as long as its after his turn. Largely the same as a surprise round, in many cases.))

((Oh yeah, exactly! I wasn't 100% certain of the term, but yeah that is exactly what I meant - that the man is surprised for the first round of combat, but it isn't an actual 'surprise round'. Thank you as always :D ))
Korrik, there is the single torch on the wall, and from the split moment that you had to take in the room, you think that it is attached to the wall somehow.
Round 1: Ash, Ben, Ess, Man (surprised), Kay
Ash, you quickly move around behind the guy and ready your attack (With the trigger being: as soon as an ally is within melee with the guy too and only if the charm doesn’t work)
Ben, you can see the guy from where you are, and you attempt to charm the guy the same way you did with Ash and Ess. The -1 is in effect, although the man will make this save with advantage as while you aren't technically fighting him, you have opened a secret door without any warning, and you just had a run in with a guy (could be this one?) 8 hours earlier and he(they) are definitely on edge and were potentially expecting someone to come back even with your exit strategy and long time away.
