Healing roll: (1d6 die, 1d6 Song of Rest). 6 +4 Con. modifier = 6 HP
OOC: Really? OK, rolling the second Hit Die 6. Glorious. Well, that adds up to 12 HP which should bring Eldon back to full, barely.
A quick question, did we loot anything off the dead goblins?
Eldon spends the hour trying to bandage his wounds, but this takes far longer than he expects. The arrow in his shoulder broke when he tried to take it out, the bandages he used were damaged in the fighting earlier and ripped jut as he finished tying them and he nearly made his injury worse by tripping on a tree root. But finally he fixed himself up.
Looks like everyone is healed to full except Grol. Can retro as needed.
The party sits down for an hours rest just off the trail
Encounter Check: Less than an 19 = no encounter. (Rolling with disadvantage due to the poor spot placement along the trail) - 8
The hour passes uneventfully.
Quick note: short rests do not replenish spell slots. If you guys think you'll need those spells you can extend this to a long rest. You'll roll another encounter check and it will then be about 9pm at night. (just went back to check everyone has at least 1 spell slot except Sol who burned them on Cure Wounds a couple times.)
Point of order: I'm a warlock so short rest does get me my spell slots back. Just doesn't get my other class healing ability back, that is long rest.
Sol wanders over and finds a comfortable divit at the base of a tree and settles down for the hour, occaisionally mumbling something under his breath in celestial as the light catches off his skin (or maybe his skin just glows a little bit, its hard to tell for sure).
OOC: I have not used any spell slots to this point. The only class resource I used was to grant Ramon Bardic Inspiration and I get that back from a short rest. So I am good to go either way.
OOC: Eldon has 2 effective spell slots left. 1 spell slot and 1 extra from sorcery points. We should probably move ahead and see the situation. We can decide if to go for long rest after that.
I think for the most part we are set to move ahead.
Sol says after sitting and catching his breath "The little one said they set up the ambushes daily right? If that's the case then we probably can't afford to wait until tomorrow. Let's go check out the situation, but I suggest if it looks like we stand a chance then we strike with the fury of Talos, swiftly and without mercy."
With my earlier knowledge roll realizing it sounded like a bugbear, do I recall anything in particular of importance about Bugbears? I'm not sure if this would be a separate roll or just based off the previous roll.
"As soon as possible, I think" proposed Ramón. "Gundren did me a good turn, I would hate to leave him with the goblins any longer than necessary. That rest left me feeling as good as new"
I rolled exactly enough to get to full health, I'm as ready as I'll ever be.

"Alright, let's move out. Keep your eyes peeled, that furry and muscled thing the goblin was describing sounds a lot like a Bugbear. They are big but sneaky, and very cruel. I think leaving Gundren in the hands of the goblins is the least of our worries if their leader is a Bugbear it could be much worse. Let Helm look over us in this venture so that we may protect Gundren."
Sol get's up and pushes Ramon to take the lead, "I think you should take point, you look like you understand the woods better than I."
As the group heads out Sol uses his Eldritch Invocation to cast False Life on himself gaining 8 Temp HP. Radiant energy flows from his crystal in his hands and swirls around his body and it appears his muscles swell ever so slightly.
Returning to the goblins’ trail, with Ramon in the lead, you come across a large cave in a hillside five miles from the scene of the ambush. A shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream.
"Ready yourselves, the Goblins set an ambush, and traps, and now we know they have a cunning leader. Best we not find ourselves on the receiving end of another ambush"

"I agree, we must consider best how to approach. I have some magical skill as well, one which may allow me to use an animal as a scout."
Perception to find A) an animal I can use best bond on and B) a spot to hide where I can send him into the cave a little ways and keep line of sight. 16
"If you want to volunteer to be shot instead then I won't stop you. Anyway, the goblins must be keeping this area clear of animals so my plan is shot. Anyone got a plan B or are we charging in like barbarians?" To accentuate his point (and also just in case) Ramòn draws his axes.

Grol plops down against the nearest tree and begins to snore immediately...
OOC: I think I'm doing this right, let me know if I botched it!

Grol has one spell slot left. I second ShadIns suggestion.

Bugbears are big and vicious humanoid beasts that are surprisingly sneaky and, unsurprisingly, cruel.
After a surprisingly refreshing rest, Grol slowly makes his way to his feet.
Rest was good. When do we make our way forward? I fear every minute counts.

Conspicuously, there are are no animals around.
Grol, remembering how the last batch of Goblins took to Ramon, feels very uneasy about putting Ramon at the forefront of the group.
"Erm, Ramon, perhaps I could stand in front of you in case those goblins have something nasty in store?"
