Finishing dragging the bodies over to the entrance of the store, ready to be removed by the approriate townspersons in the morning, Daelnar shrugs his shoulders a bit to loosen them, still feeling stiff from where that first bolt had hit him and Malik's magic had healed the wound. "Alright, I guess if yer wanna be headin' out we can be goin' in the dead o' night." The barbarian recovers his handaxe, checks the edge, and re-ties the leather cord attaching it to his thigh.
(OoC: I'm 11/15 hp, so good enough to get into a fight, but too high to waste any healing on until I get some more bruises. If we short rest I won't use the hit dice. Is it better for Red to quaff a potion and save the rest? Just head straight out?)

(I value the potions over hit dice for this. Hit dice won't help mid-battle. Same with the healing spells and Malik's healer's kits. I'd say just burn the hit dice now unless you're really comfortable where you are.)
Elro arranges for two local Glassblades to apprehend the survivor and collect the bodies, then soon meets you at Katia’s. He is able to procure a healer’s kit from a local temple. “Not that it does much good against the ice sickness, but who knows what trouble you’ll run into. I’ll round up the Glassblades that’s able, do a door-to-door, but not letting on that Urgon’s ailment might be catching. We need to know if anyone else in the village has it. Good luck to ya. Croaker Cave is dangerous, what with that icy water and those giant frogs. Climbing through it isn't easy for a young person.” He casts a worried glance at Malik, then he tips his fur hat and heads back out into the night.

Croaker Cave gets its name from its resident giant ice frogs. Its entrance is on the shores of the Frigid Depths, due north of Palebank Village. As you draw close to the cave entrance, Shagar spots frequent signs of tracks where bandits have been coming and going. However, there are no signs of patrols or guards. A plume of smoke rises from the ground beyond the cave entrance, venting through a narrow natural chimney. The chimney is too small to be climbed, however, and the main cave entrance is the only entry point.
You find yourselves at the cave’s entrance. Beyond the pallid moonlight struggling to break through the clouds, there is no other light source. The slow dripping of water sounds out where it falls from stalactites down into a murky pool that fills the rough tunnel ahead. Every few moments, a loud croaking sounds out from somewhere in the darkness beyond.
Daelnar steps forward, appreciating the enclosed warmth of the cave rather than the biting night wind they endured through the trek. As the group step into the first chamber, Daelnar looks at the pool of water, the surface reflecting what it can with the little light available. He takes the butt of his glaive and dips it into the pool, testing how deep the water is and trying to judge the contours of the ground underneath.

The cavern opens into a chamber ten feet high, with stalactites that hang from the ceiling like giant fangs. There are only 8 feet of clearance beneath the stalactites.
Daelnar finds that the frigid, murky pool drops dramatically, and only a few feet from the edge his polearm is unable to reach the bottom.
Shagar, however, strides boldly into the water… to find herself completely submerged in its icy depths! (Shagar, make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or gain one level of exhaustion!) Just before she slips beneath the surface, she spies an enormous frog resting comfortably ten feet beneath.
At that moment, a slimy, amphibious head emerges from the water beside Daelnar and an incredibly long, pink tongue lashes out, attempting to lasso the barbarian! The tongue is equipped with small but sharp barbs. Another creature swims lazily through the water, then attacks Shagar!
(Two frogs (red and yellow) attack with surprise. These attacks assume Malik provides light before entering.)
If hit, the target of the tongue attack is grappled!
(Darkness prevails. Without darkvision or another light source, your attacks are subject to disadvantage. Initiative (bold may act): Shagar, enemy, Malik, Katia, Daelnar, Red, Harley)

"Guard dogs I've seen before... but guard FROGS?!? We t' deal with these fast and pull Shagar outta there!" Daelnar is thankful for the light that Malik granted to the hand axe at his side, he was not fond of another fight where he could barely see what he was swinging at.

Katia spent a year here but felt like nature remains a mystery to her. Still, she shrugged off her half formulated suggestion to simply call the cultists up through the chimney - after all, the group was here to help - and tried to recall all she knew about those frogs.
14 As expected, that was nothing. But animals looked dangerous enough.
9 nature Muffled complaining about all these younglings just running headlong into their own doom like children running with pairing knives
(Also GM. are any stalacites above the frogs (but not my friends) ? it feels cool to blast if i have an option that targets items haha. spear em with icicles.. but probably not)
The blueand red frogs squeeze their tongues, trying to manipulate their oversized snacks into their mouths (without success). Shagar's unconscious body is held aloft by the blue frog and, miraculously, she's able to breathe (for now). The yellow frog kicks lazily around the pool, currently too relaxed to be bothered by the the ruckus around it.
Red Chanter crouches, extends her claws, and springs onto the western wall of the cave. Quick as...well...a cat, she climbs out over the pool toward the suspended Shagar all while singing (she has incredible diaphragm control) in an upbeat tempo and not at all like Mary Poppins:
"Stay awake Don't rest your head Don't lie down Upon your bed While the moon drifts in the skies Stay awake Don't close your eyes
Though the world is fast asleep Though your pillow's soft and deep You're not sleepy as you seem Stay awake Don't nod and dream Stay awake Don't nod and dream"
From the cave wall, she reaches out a hand to touch Shagar and casts cure wounds as a red glow emanates from her fallen comrade. Red Chanter books it back to her starting position with her aptly-named feline agility while using her bonus action to give the orc 1d6 bardic inspiration to hopefully help her get free of the giant frog.
Attracted (and terrified) by the commotion inside the cave, Katia run in. The only thing she could remember right now was the sleep charm and, praying for it to work, she said the words:
Sleep for 32 HP (WM 14, consequences 27 ) placing it in a way that tries to target frogs and not party members.

Old Man Malik ponders how strange that there cat is; climbing all over the place, singing and holllaerin' tapps his cane with the exclamation "Hoi Poi Hoi" as a spear of light appears above that seems to fling itself at the Frog Shagar is in combat with.

Daelnar sees his polearm dip deeper into the water, and Shagar stride into it, seemingly oblivious to the lack of a floor. As he is bringing the butt back out of the water, a long, cold pink tongue catches him by surprise, not just striking at him, but sticking to him. The slimy feel and sticky texture were not something that the barbarian wanted to let his thoughts linger on too long. As the others all sprang into action, Daelnar wrestled with the appendage hampering his movement. Unable to get away from the tongue, he reasoned that severing it from the body of the frog would be the easiest solution to his current predicament, as he tries to maneuver the long glaive's head and butt into damaging positions.
