The Dwarven man at arms with Plate and Shield and a thick, sturdy cloak. "The pinickle of martial skill, demonstrating the strength the mountain cities have to offer! Hammerstone!"
The human girl in a steel chestplate, wielding a bow as tall as a man and a quiver bristling with ready arrows.
Teams: Gell will be matched with... (4)... Sarah.
The participants return to their gates and the match begins as the gates spring open.

(Yah, just gotta decide what I'm doing. I'm REALLY regretting that I didn't prepare sleep this battle. This could have been over with like 2 weeks ago...)
(What round are we on anyway? My owl could wake up eventually too! Who's actually sleeping vs 0 hp? I don't remember at this point)
(If I'm counting right, I've taken 9 turns since my owl was put to sleep earlier. Sleep lasts 1 minute, would he wake up this round or next round?
Side note: it's really hard to keep track of rounds in here. like sleep, bladesinging lasts for 1 minute. Most battles seem to end in that time anyway where it doesn't matter, but we're somewhere past 10 rounds now. Not sure how many. Is it safe to assume I'd have recast it as soon as it ended, since I didn't actually know we'd hit that point? Then it's just a question of how many actual rounds it's been, to know how much longer it does last. Could matter if this keeps going the way it has...)

Oh gives himself a shake as he wakes up and flies over the wall to flap his wings in Runthiel's face, distracting him to Help Sha'kar's attack, before flying back over the wall out of sight.
(Do you still have to spend half movement speed to stand if you can fly? Either way, with 60ft fly speed he should be fine)
Sha'kar taps his sword to start it ringing again, then stabs it at Runthiel yet again, hoping to take out the Barbarian and free himself.
(Sha'kar, you're lucky 14 was your first roll. You wouldn't have advantage because grappling restrains you, causing you to have disadvantage. And only does 4 damage. Runthiel, are you down?)
(As far as i can tell, nothing about grappling restrains unless the ability that cuses it says so. Restrained is a separate condition from Grappled with various ways it can be applied. But that was my original thought for wanting the familiar was to not get disadvantage)
Grappling
When you want to grab a creature or wrestle with it, you can use the Attack action to make a special melee attack, a grapple. If you're able to make multiple attacks with the Attack action, this attack replaces one of them.
The target of your grapple must be no more than one size larger than you and must be within your reach. Using at least one free hand, you try to seize the target by making a grapple check instead of an attack roll: a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the target's Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (the target chooses the ability to use). You succeed automatically if the target is incapacitated. If you succeed, you subject the target to the grappled condition. The condition specifies the things that end it, and you can release the target whenever you like (no action required).
Grappled
A grappled creature's speed becomes 0, and it can't benefit from any bonus to its speed.
The condition ends if the grappler is incapacitated (see the condition).
The condition also ends if an effect removes the grappled creature from the reach of the grappler or grappling effect, such as when a creature is hurled away by the thunderwave spell

(If Unable to make the attack due to Total Cover, Gell will cast Blade Ward instead. Disadvantage otherwise has been included to account for the Shrubbery. Not sure if it would be canceled out however by Darkness in this instance)

The arena is underground, shut away from the sun, but the stones glow with a soft light. The arena's dim light leaves much to be desired for those without darkvision and can create opportunities for more subtle competitors.
An elderly wizard moves throughout an underground cavern, raising walls, creating depressions, and imbuing certain areas with magic. The cold stone of the arena is reminiscent of a tomb, sealed away in the damp dark.
