As the competitors enter the arena, Swigg is offered a small box from which he pulls the number... 1
All of you can see three figures watching from the sidelines: an aged elven wizard, whose gray hair and deep set eyes seem... unnatural for an elf, a horrifying lich, who looks to have had some demonic blood, and a human man, whose golden eyes see keenly into the dimly lit cavern.
Swigg and Denka, you watch as the wizard waves his hand and Maginio and Vurnic are teleported away.
Maginio and Vurnic, you pop back into existence on the other side of the cavern, the human claps his hands and smiles at you.
The lich stands up and begins to speak in a dry, rasping voice, "In the name of our Lady Vol, for the purpose that we may live forever, and for glory everlasting, let those who are about to die make their final prayers, and let those who are to be ever victorious carve their names into the halls of the undying. Stand ready!"
"The Great Maginio! Whose powerful build belies his impressive intellect!"
"Vurnic! With force and honor may he conquer!"
"Swigg Mgoo! May your wit and magic guide you to life eternal!"
"And Denka of the Bronze Bloodline! Of two worlds but belonging to neither, destroy those who would doubt you!"
"May the power within guide you all, now give us a show!"
And as the lich settles back down, the stones of the arena begin to glow softly. Let the battle begin!

Strength save: 8
(realized I screwed up by not having a saving throw can trip. Fire bolt made some sense at level 1, but isn’t needed with a longbow now after the first match. And you can’t swap cantrips out can you? I at least get a new one in a couple levels...)
Now I’m sad that critical success death saves still count when critical fail ones don’t :p. And wth. I can roll natural 20s on a str save and countering a grapple, but can’t roll an attack roll to save my life!)
Gell cants his head, then cuts through the first set of shrubbery.
"Really now, Nara? Now immediate charge into the fray?"
He starts walking along the thin path in the maze on an ongoing move forward, but stops short seeing her a ways ahead.
"Ah... now I see why."
As bits of shadow started to cling to her, threatening to suffocate, something jabs at her from multiple angles in the front with explosive force. Afterwards, he shifts around in the darkness just enough to keep her within it.

Action: Gell Casts a [2nd level]Magic Missile and aims all three darts at Nara, inflicting1 times 4 plus 5 for a total 9 points of Force Damage.
(If the above actions are not possible (Passive Perception: 10 - Unaffected by Darkness due to Feature), I can amend with a Ready Attack with the Pike from E-7 as soon as Nara becomes visible)

As Swigg moves, stealthy as a rockstar, the human cocks his head and disappears. When he dimension doors back into the arena, he is holding a stout halfling by the neck. "Yer late, but I'll find somewhere to put ya. Throst! We're gonna need old you to show these fools how to raise hell!"

He then begins to shift into a younger form, the decaying, undead appearance being swapped out for a young Tiefling with tan skin, purple horns, and pale white eyes. He wears simple chainmail and holds a shield and mace. He then walks over to team Maginio.
