With it being so dark, and the pipes being secure, Lafetha is unsure of what's inside. The mist on the ground continues to swirl a bit by the feet of everyone; creeping up the longer they're in the room. Stinging more as it goes up.
Tarak reaches out; trying to feel out with his divine senses. But nothing, just the continuing feeling of being watched. The room too noisy to really hear anything that may be going on.
Abigail cautiously enters the room, peeking around to see if there are any other means of egress.
((Not sneaking, just cautious... so no real game mechanics... She is just trying to do a quick sweep along the walls, not really do a full investigation of the room. If there is not other way out of the room, then it is time head back to a different tunnel - in her mind. ))

((Not sneaking, just cautious... so no real game mechanics... She is just trying to do a quick sweep along the walls, not really do a full investigation of the room. If there is not other way out of the room, then it is time head back to a different tunnel - in her mind. ))
Perception: 21
The room itself is large; making a casual sweep incredibly difficult. With it being pitch black, and extending beyond sightlines, Abigail creeps around a bit. The machinery in the center takes up a vast amount of space - doing whatever it is - as she continues to move around.
It's clear that the vents head down here; some kind of air circulation system in place. The noxious fumes rising up while cool air comes down.
From around a corner two others step from behind the machines. Heavyset face masks with long noses and glass-like eye covers. Both of them look over at Abigail, gripping their wrenches and hammers tightly.
Tarak pulls out his lantern lights it and moves around the room creating dim light up to 60 ft away. If he can see the people closing on Abigail he will set the lantern down and move to intercept if not he will continue to explore.
The two others, now seeing the light wave their hands frantically a bit. Tarak sets the lantern down, only to see the mist extinguish the flames. Upon picking the lantern back up, the light does come back. But after a moment.
The figures again wave their hands - the machinery too noisy to easily talk. Seeming to point and gesture for you all to leave.
ZZ, the machinery is massive. Pipes moving to and from; bringing air and whatever is inside the liquids all around. It's state of the art - new - and meticulously maintained. One thing you're sure of, there is no way of casually damaging it. Likely you would have to sit here for minutes, if not an hour, pulling and prodding at the large gears. You're still not sure what the random liquids, goo, and fluids are - you'd need a sample and a full day or two working at a alchemy lab to even attempt to know more. A few of the pipes are certainly bringing down breathable air, and venting smoke from some kind of incinerator elsewhere in the complex. You're also fairly certain that the vents lead to somewhere inside the machine; likely where the two are now standing and holding hammers and wrenches like clubs while motioning for you all to leave.
The two take a bit of a closer step to Tarak, Abigail, and ZZ a bit. A bit more threateningly this time, as they gesture for you all to leave.
Getting a bit closer, Tarak, you do notice that they have a few tinctures and tonics on their belts; along with a few cases of leviathan oil. (A oil rendered from the fat and organs of Leviathans; used to keep machines going throughout the kingdoms. Also worth more than gold.)
Abigail smiles and waves at them between gritted teeth as her other hand deftly secures a pinch of sand from a pouch on her belt. Knowing full well they cannot hear her, she still says, "I don't have time for this... and you seem like you are just trying to do your job..."
With a bit of luck, neither of the two are of Rana or Redhel descent and collapse down on the ground. With the ground being covered in a stinging mist, you don't think they'll be out for the full minute.
Able to now look around a bit easier; there isn't much else to the large chamber. It mostly just the machine and the seeming endless spiral of pipes coming from the walls and ceiling.
Abigail, moving more quickly through the room, hurried sweep. "There is nothing here, let's hurry to the next tunnel... Before they wake up."
Fearing that the engineers on the ground floor will complete their task soon, Abigail moves swiftly back down the tunnel; pauses for a moment, before more cautiously starting down the next closest tunnel.
The crew hurries down as best they can down towards one of the other spokes. Again the room itself is dark; extending beyond their darkvision. The bit of light from Tarak's torch helping to bring about some degree of color.
A series of semi rotten wood planks dictate a path. On either side of them, large metal grates that it would be easy to slip a hand and arm into; but nothing larger than a cat likely to fit through the space. Under the grates seems to be just mud, but there is the sounds of moving water further down outside of sightlines. Well worn grooves in the ground give away that some kind of cart comes by regularly.
The pipes that seem to connect a majority of the building don't seem to be here. Or if they are, aren't visible.
There are certainly some things off the wood plank path above the grates; but its just outside of sightlines.
The first pod strikes straight underneath her cat-like body; knocking Lafetha out of her cat form on the other side of the metal gates. Now stuck on the wet earth while her companions are on the other side; the gate once again in the way. The touch of these translucent things burning her skin away.

ZZ watches as Tarak starts to bend the bars. She feels that time is of the essence for Lafetha so she also begins to see if she can't squeeze herself through. acrobatics16
If ZZ makes it through she casts shatter at the closest hands attack7damage20
With Laftetha out of immediate danger, Abigail debates if it is worth investigating what sort of things ARE under the grates, but decides against it.
"Okay, well, maybe there is something... strange, going on in this place. The worries of your homeless acquaintance's might have merit after all. Tarak, do you have another torch? It might be worth our time to shed a little more light to increase our efficiency... since the element of surprise appears to gone anyway."
((if someone does offer up an additional light source, then Abigail will take it; either way though, she continues to follow the rotting boards and worn ground.))
ZZ slips back through the bars as Lafetha makes it over to safety, Haku preening her crazy hair.
ZZ pulls out her torch as Abigail asks for it, but turns away so her dark vision isn't blinded. She hums in thought, "Maybe we should check the last tunnel before exploring here any further? I don't think we have much time."
