((I've always thought that most characters would just assume that bludgeoning damage would be best for skellys, but maybe not! I think Gotur maybe faced some skeletons... I can't recall either. Were there some in the sewers? Or was that just zombies? I'd say your call.))
Alton skillfully moves ahead and fires another bolt which hits the skeleton directly in the chest and it shatters to the ground all around Eku. She sends an approving glance over to Alton and she says again to him like before telepathically nice shot, kid
Evo, the two skeletons near you take exception to the bone head comments! One of them just falls apart immediately due to the burning radiance from the words, and the other one starts to burn up and break apart and is barely holding together. The mace hits the skeleton but its armor seems to deflect the blow.
Phillip, just as this happens, you fire your arrow and it hits the skeleton just barely standing from the radiance. The arrow hits the sternum and the skeleton smashes apart. I don't think you know yet about the poison as the skeletons you've hit so far are getting destroyed from the shot itself!
Gotur, you move forward and attack the last skeleton up there near Eku since the ones around Evo had been smashed to heck. The tendril lashes the skeleton, taking some bones off and pulling it towards you.
Eku smiles at Gotur and then tries to bite the skeleton that he just whipped.
Bite: 11 Damage: 10 and her teeth narrowly miss the skeleton.
If the one next to Evo is still up on his turn he will send the mace down to club it. If it doesn't die he will sacred flame it (DC 15 dex), if it is already dead from either the mace or something else he will move to see the one by Azaka and flame it instead.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Alton turns, reloading his crossbow again. He moves three spaces down on the map and will take a shot at the skeleton nearest to Azaka (sneak attack should be included).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Phillip will hop down from his vantage point, and pad over towards Evo, asking, “Mister E’vo?!... ... Are you alright? Uh huh, Uh huh?...”.
If there are any skeletons left, as he walks over, he’ll fire an arrow at it in a casual fashion, more concerned about his friend... “That was amazing!! Yup yup yup!...”, he says, looking, wide eyes at the holy-mace in the air....
Alton spins and moves down closer to Azaka and lets loose another bolt. It connects, and the skeleton shatters.
Evo, your floating mace is all that is required. It smashes into the skeleton, and the force of the blow breaks the bones apart.
Phillip hops out of the tree and Gotur likely puts away his staff after he sees the last skeleton get destroyed.
Combat is over. You guys made short work of that skeleton group.
Eku and Azaka would likely now explain more about the undead army which I posted about earlier at this point after defeating the skeletons. Eku would say to Evo"Are you ok? Next time, let Azaka and I take the lead. Those feeble things cannot harm us." she kind of flaps her wings around the dwarf as her healing energies surround Evo. 9
The skeletons all had short swords and short bows. Nothing else.
(I'm keeping track of level progression for sure for L6. It seems we've come a long way since our arrival in Chult, although these battles have been quite easy and I don't think we are there yet. Let's see how many more encounters we get before the next destination. Perhaps the party will be L6 for Nanny Poopoo?!)
Will the party do anything else here before the travelling continues?
Phillip will spend a few moments gathering his arrows (half of those fired). But do the skeletons have any arrows? If so, he’ll restock back up to full.
Oh yeah Phillip for sure, each of the skeletons have a few arrows in their quivers and scattered within their bones.
(FYI, not all encounters will be just combat. There may also be encounters the party decides to try and escape from. If the rolled encounters start to get stale as well, I will just skip them as I don't want to spend all the time just dealing with encounters getting to the destinations! However, this next one coming up I have a feeling will be quite interesting.)
"Old habit of getting in the mix! Aye'm fine, especially after that Eku, thank ye."
He pokes around the bones a bit but isn't too interested in anything they have and is ready to go when people are ready. If they stop for lunch he'll burn a HD.
No problem with the hit dice, the party would've stopped for a lunch even if to just give the portagers' a rest.
A little after lunch as the party continues northwest through the jungle... an AMBUSH happens.
Grungs. They are in the trees. There seems to be a bunch of green ones, and a red one and then one orange-ish colored one, maybe similar to Phillip's color. Phillip would likely know what the colors mean.
Any character with a passive perception score of 14 or higher spots them just in time. All other characters are surprised. I believe the only person that is surprised is Alton. Perhaps he was daydreaming about how deadly his crossbow has become, or maybe he was thinking about his family. Missing them. Especially after the last time he saw them. Whatever it was, he wasn't paying attention and is surprised for round 1.
Please roll for initiative. These grungs seem to be very hostile at this moment of the ambush. I've added them to the bestiary tab as well.
Eku: 9
Azaka: 12
Green Grungs: 7
Red Grung: 16
Orange Grung: 9
I've updated the map as well. Let me know if you think your character would've been somewhere else in the moment of the ambush.
As for the grungs - they are all in the trees where they are on the map. To make it easier, let's assume they are all 25ft up the trees. And the trees we will say are 7-10 ft up on those cliffs.
So, in total, those grungs are 35 ft above when you are in that ravine.
There is no check required to climb up the ravine, but it will take 10ft of movement.
He summons a spiritual weapon beside the grungs to the north and smacks the left one and sacred flames the right one.
Rolls coming shortly...
((Ignore everything below, it was pointed out that the grung are 25 ft up the trees!))
---
He calls on his spirit guardians (hitting the two grung north of his starting position) before moving to the spot two south of Phillip (hitting the two in the tree south of him and the two green ones in the tree west of him).
Guardian spirit damage, dc 15 wisdom save for half: 15
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((Yep I also added that same pic of the Grungs to the bestiary tab!))
Yeah Evo they are 25 ft up in the tree, and you are all in that ravine right now, so they are in fact 35 ft up from you.
Round 1: Evo, Alton, Red Grung, Gotur, Azaka, Phillip, Eku, Orange Grungs, Green Grungs
Eku would've communicated (off turn is ok for small stuff) to Phillip telepathically once she saw the grungs ok P'lip. You're up. Get them to stand down or else they shall be slaughtered. She is flying as well, say 25 ft up in the air from the bottom of the ravine.
Evo, the grungs don't seem to understand you. The mace appears and swings at the grung but it is able to move out of the way. (let me know if that is where you wanted it - map is updated)
Grung dex save: 12 and the little guy avoids the radiant flames.
Alton is surprised for round 1.
The red grung yells out some things that only Phillip would be able to understand. "finally! some new slaves! Let's get 'em." and the grung would point at the ground near the canoes, and suddenly the ground around Gotur, Alton, Evo and Azaka twists and sprouts hard spikes and thorns. Spike Growth
((please remind me about rolling for spell concentration should the red grung take a hit if I forget!))
Gotur is up! Map is updated.
***All of the grungs when in the trees have 1/2 cover we'll say for anyone making ranged attacks.

Skeletons are up ->
The last skeleton near Evo shakes off the tendril and moves toward Evo and tries to slash him.
Attack: 12 Damage: 7
the sword swings wide.
The bottom 2 skeletons continue to try and slash at the weretiger, and she just laughs.
Round 4: Azaka, Alton, Evo, Phillip, Gotur, Eku, Skeletons
Azaka continues to claw: Claw: 12 Damage: 4
Claw: 15 Damage: 7
she manages to rip one of them apart.
2 skeletons remain. The one near Azaka looks fresh, and the one near Evo looks rough.
Alton is up! Map is updated.

Phillip senses movement in the trees and looks up. “Oh no!.. Nuh huh!...”, he whispers quietly under his breath.
Phillip’s colouring...
Phillip doesn’t exhibit colours quite like these Grungs, or like any other Grungs anyone might have seen before.
He has a little bit of many different colours: red tummy and back, green arms and legs, blue hands and feet, and a yellow/amber face.
He also has black markings and spots (but that’s common to many Grungs).
His multi-coloured skin is very unusual, possibly even unique.
