As Eerie releases her captive, the goblin rubs her wrists and then looks straight at the gnome, winking slyly.
Without a word she heads straight for the wagon. Reaching inside briefly, she emerges with a small leather pouch. She grabs a handful of small brown chunks from the pouch and throws them off into the snow, shouting "Yah! Next course is ready!"
She sets off into the darkness, scattering more of the chunks as she goes and yelling to draw the bears' attention. It works, the huge polars shifting their attention from you to the rapidly-growing trail of treats and heading off.
You take the opportunity to grab the sled and start heading south back towards Bryn Shander, away from the goblin and her hungry pursuers.
(Any discussion or activity before we get back to Bryn Shander?)
Eerie scrunches her little brows surprised by a wink from a Goblin then smiles back at her hoping she hasn't just made a terrible mistake. She is quickly relieved as the female leads the bears off successfully.
"Back to Bryn Shander, all the news is not positive, but I think they know the bad already." Still thinking on the wink, she double checks that the ingots mentioned are still there then adds, this will be heavy I think I can help. She hands two Potion of Healing vials to Thirteen, "Would you carry these for me? Use them if they're needed." then without another 'word' she moves slightly away and bends down as if to pick something up and comes up as a deep flame colored draft horse all of her gear absorbed into the mass of the beast. DraftHorse-Eerie moves back carefully to the sled getting used to the snow in hooves and nudges the sled. She seems to be offering to pull it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Carric lifts his mask briefly to reveal an amused smile at Eerie's transformation. "This should certainly help us move more quickly!"he says, sounding a bit excited. He lowers the mask to help keep the cold off his skin and moves a bit ahead, back in the direction toward town, peering out across the land, looking for any signs of danger--including the return of the gobline and/or the polar bears!
Virjor is delighted to see the Polar bears moving on and Eerie's remarkable transformation...he takes a deep breath and resists the urge to climb into the carriage for the ride back, and starts walking with the others.
Max puts his crossbow away and thinks about how this will make a great story upon returning to town. “Wow, my friend is now a horse!” He thinks to himself as he falls in with the group and walks with them.
`With Eerie taking on the powerful form of a draft horse, the sled is easy to pull across the snow. The party makes good time and is not troubled by any surprises on the way back to Bryn Shander.
You reach the town late in the afternoon; do you want to head to Blackiron Blades, the Northlook Tavern, or somewhere else?
DraftHorse-Eerie pulls the sled to the Northlook Tavern with the aid of her friends and looks to the others tossing her head in the direction of the door. She holds her position with the loaded sled stomping and pacing around it if anyone gets close.
As she stomps around the sled, shooing away curious onlookers, she shifts back into her little gnomish self stomping around in snowshoes.
Seeing Eerie pop-back into being, Virjor claps his hands and exclaims "Marvellous, let's get back inside and inform these skittish Dwarves we have found their sled and ingots, collect our prize and hopefully get more information concerning the magical winter here."
"Perhaps someone other than me should go up to their room...I'm not sure I made the best impression last time....?"
If we have time, Virjor will settle in a corner near the fire and ritual summon Lucius back (this time as a white cat.)
You 'park' outside the Northlook Tavern and head inside, Virjor making for a quiet corner where he can start the ritual to re-summon Lucius (please remove 10gp for materials Virjor).
The rest of you head up the stairs to the dwarves' room, where inside you find them in slightly better condition. The female is packing or checking a bag of kit while the two males sit up in bed, chewing at some fluffy bread.
The female, who answered the door cautiously before throwing it open when she sees it is you, asks hopefully: "Well? Did you manage to find the ingots?"
Max looks around and seeing no one else taking the lead, he straightens his belt and smooths his hair to take a try at being spokesperson. "Well met! Wow, where to begin? We had quite the adventure where I got to walk and run in snowshoes for the first time, there were these big bug monsters, and there were goblins and polar bears, and we had to fight them, and well, we didn't really want to fight the bears, but Lucius died! Oh, that was so sad...but did I mention Eerie pulled the sled all the way back by herself? Did I also mention that she could become a wolf? That is how she was when I met her! But this time, she was a horse! Also, Thirteen was a force to be reckoned with and so was Carric and Virjor also put the goblins to sleep!" Max wrinkles his brow in case he forgot anything and says, "Oh yes, I think we have all of the ingots in the sled....We did find all of them, right, gang?"
"Hey you!" Eerie shouts as she spots a curious villager looking too closely at the sled (More for the party inside to hear than the nosey one), "Have you possibly considered that if I could change myself from a horse to a gnome that I might be amused to change you into something more interesting?" She inquires more quietly of the stranger hopping on top of the sled to keep a better eye out.
Presently atop the sled of covered (I hope) ingots sits a fiery red headed gnome giving squinty, suspicious looks at curious stranger while also surveying the immediate area around the sled in case its a distraction.
Thirteen tucks away the healing potions provided by Eerie, thanking her and trudging with others all the way back to the Inn.
He stays outside and stands motionless in the shadows, with a good view of the sled and the gnome atop. He smiles warmly as she warns off strangers coming close.
The passerby who had found himself drawn to the sled leaps back at Eerie’s caution. “No! I, er, just couldn’t help myself. I’m sorry ma’am, I’ll be on my way!”
He slopes off down the street, leaving long trails in the snow with every footstep.
Inside the Northlook, the female dwarf looks on amazed as Max recounts the story of your quest to retrieve the ingots.
“It sounds like you’ve put a fair deal of effort in on our behalf, I’m grateful for that. I’m glad you all made it back, even that dunderheaded elf. Here, as agreed…”
She fishes into a pouch and hands you five small gems, each worth 50gp. As she does so, she starts to speak again: “If I could ask one last favour; could you take them to Blackiron Blades please? Garn, the blacksmith, will receive them there”
@Eerie: The long trails are from walking in the snow, the man is likely dragging his feet in embarrassment but does not appear injured. Hopefully he won't stick his nose in other people's business in future!
Satisfied that the curious villager was only embarrassed and not hurt, she sets her attention back to the task of watching over the sled. As Eerie surveys the immediate area waiting for the others to return, she spots the figure of Thirteen standing like a totem outside the establishment and giggles slightly as she spots a bird on the ledge above considering him as a possible perch.
Hearing the dwarf's request, Max says, "Leave it to us, Max Springfoot, finder of misplaced things, always completes the job!" He tucks the gem into his pack and sets off to the lower level of the inn and then to find the wagon to tell folks in the party about their next stop.
"Hey, everyone, one last stop: We are supposed to take the ingots to the Blackiron Blades and give them to Garn. If you haven't seen the nice dwarves, they have a gemstone for you!" Max says after he steps outside.
Thirteen kicks himself off the wall he was leaning against and approaches Max. "I'm sure we don't have to personally go and collect our gems do we? I'd rather be keeping an eye on our next delivery if it's all the same."
He then walks to the sled and shouts up to Eerie, "Can you do the magical horse thing again little gnome, which was pretty damn impressive, or do we need to find alternative ways of hauling this lump down to the blacksmith?"
Carric has quietly moved along from the isolated arctic terrain back to the town, managing to remain fairly watchful and stealthy all the while. He waits near the horse-drawn sled and also looks quizzically at anyone who gets too close, staring out from behind his mask, thinking that may add to whatever intimidation Eerie provides.
He nods when Max returns. To Thirteen's question, he says "I can help pull the sled to the blacksmith if need be."Raised in a monastery, he's no stranger to hard work, even though he is not that strong.
