Max's bolt slices clean through blob two, destroying its integrity and causing it to flop to the ground in a thin puddle. The ooze filters away and evaporates.
The remaining puddings, both looking much weaker than the original version, attack their nearest enemies

Virjor's fire bolt sears a wide hole through Krintass'storso. The wight looks down in surprise, then up again just in time to see Luciusswoop on him and unleash flaming death. The blast of dragon breath envelope's the bodyguard's head and his body falls to the ground, smouldering and still.

Thirteenswings his mighty sword through the black pudding in front of him, slicing two large chunks from it. The blob still stands though, ready to attack.
Eeriedashes over to Carric, standing between the black puddings as she tends to her friend (Carric heals 10 HP)

Max'sshot is sublime. The bolt tumbles right before it smacks into the target, maximising the impact and tearing a large hole through the blob. The hit is just too much for the amorphous creature to take and it breaks down into a bubbling puddle.
The last blob, small and weak-looking, strikes out at Eerie: Attack: 16 Damage: 8 bludgeoning plus 19 acid damage.
(Lucius and Virjor's turn - there is one black pudding left)
The blow to Eerie from the blob was severely damaging to the small gnome, but the Acid proved near fatal. She crumples into the mass of vines coiled about her feet causing the entangled vines, no longer useful, to wither away back into the ground below her. She lies struggling to hold to life.
DEATH SAVE 1 4 (fortunately that didn't quite bring her to have of her hp negative - and wow, ouchy)
Virjor looks stricken as Eerie falls. He quickly delves into his robes and pours a healing potion into her mouth: 6 hp (Bonus action)
A furious look crosses his eyes as he focuses on the remaining blob and he casts Fire Bolt once more: Attack 23 Damage 8. Lucius quickly follows up with a huge blast of Dragon's Breath: Dex Save DC16 Damage 16.

Eerie sputters awake looking weakly but gratefully up at Virjor as a flash of fire emits from both him and the cat. She smiles and moves to rise, "A fire breathing cat, who'd have thought I'd live to see it?" Then as an afterthought, "Nearly didn't. Thank you Virjor."
She will attempt to treat her wounds on her next round with Healers Feat 14
The attacks from Virjor and Lucius incinerate the last black pudding. It bubbles and crackles as the flames melt it down to a thin sheen on the stone floor, and then nothing.
In almost the same motion, Virjor revives Eerie with a healing potion.
The room falls silent. Dzann's simulacrum, the potential lead on these newly-arrived wizards to Icewind Dale, is gone. Other clues may remain in this sunken spire, or the other wizards may be traceable (Elza at the store in town might know more, see post 1684).
Seeing Eerie applying healing to herself Virjor breathes a sigh of relief. He looks over at his new friends. "Oh dear it seems both Carric & Thirteen have taken a lot of damage, and we appear to have destroyed a potential lead. That being said I can't disagree with the actions we took to defend ourselves."
"Do we continue the search of this overturned tower, or take a short rest first?"
@DM how far from Carric is Eerie and is she presently restrained by her entangle ?

Lucius follows up (if Krintass is still standing, otherwise at the nearest blob) using Dragon's Breath DEX Save DC16 - Damage 8

1d6+6+HD of patient I always feel a little OP when my characters go combat medic, especially with a monk!
Thirteen, frustrated at the blobs just multiplying, "It's like trying to kill water!!"
And strikes twice at the stronger of the two, then moving to the other if the first is downed.

"I for one could do with a short break as I'm dented and scratched.
I would be happy to continue forward once I'm back to full strength.
Once Eerie is finished with her own injuries, she looks to the others. "I can tend to those as well, then we should rest?"
