Max's expression of pride changes immediately to grief when he sees Eerie so injured. His expression then turns to relief when it looks like she will recover.
Upon hearing the idea, Max agrees with the short rest. "I wouldn't want to go back empty handed. Maybe we all want to look around some more?" The halfling looks at his companions.
Virjor agrees with Max and, billowing out his robes, sits cross-legged near the door. He snuggles briefly with Lucius before he dismisses the white cat.
He uses Arcane Recovery to recover a couple of spell slots and uses the Short Rest to recover all his lost HP.
Refreshed, Virjor stands up, and strides out of the room without a word to check the door to the south of the corridor.
Rested - should nothing occur while they do - Eerie hops up, dusts herself off and sorts her braids into a more controllable mass and heads off to see what Virjor has found.
Virjor heads to the south door and looks inside - it appears to be a bedroom. The bed in this room is upside down on the floor, its rotted blankets peeking out from underneath the disintegrating mattress. Mounted to the north wall is a tall, cracked mirror in a stone frame that merges seamlessly with the surrounding wall.
Lying underneath two dirt-clogged windows is a partially crumbled, rime-covered human skeleton in the tattered shreds of a nightgown.

Eerie, feeling much improved from her rest (fully healed), moves into the room quickly with Virjor and crouching down into a fluffy multicolored cat (wild shape) creeps under the bed to investigate the blankets and mattress. Keen Smell. The cat has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
Wild Shape. You can stay in a beast shape for a number of hours equal to half your druid level (rounded down). You then revert to your normal form unless you expend another use of this feature. You can revert to your normal form earlier by using a bonus action on your turn. You automatically revert if you fall unconscious, drop to 0 hit points, or die.

Thirteen, feels the healing wash over him. The dents and scratches becoming less obvious, and he nods his thanks to Eerie.
He continues to repair to the majority of the damage sustained in battle, before walking the perimeter and looking through any openings for any other sign of danger.
Eerie shapes into a fluffy, multicoloured cat and squeezes under the bed for an explore. The bedding is thick with the smell of meldew, but harbours no secrets or loot of note.
Thirteen and Max patrol the room looking for anything else of interest. They nearly miss it, but the warforged just spots a leather-bound book inside the alcove behind the mirror. It seems to be full of arcane scribbles, diagrams and some scrawled handwritten notes.
Max spies a fancy ring on the finger of the skeleton.
At the sight of a book in Thirteen's big hands, Virjor excitedly scuttles over. Hoping to peer around the warforged to get a better look; Arcana 8 (rolled a 1!)
Somehow, he trips over his robes in his excitement and falls into the Warforged head first. He looks up accusingly at Thirteen...
Max does his best not to smirk at Virjor's trip and takes a closer look at the ring. "Hmm, maybe I need to find an owner for this. Someone may have lost it!" Max tries to pull the ring off of the finger and pocket it.
Fluffy Cat - Eerie creeps out from the old knots and tangles of bedding with naught else but some mildewy bits dangling from her ears and dust on her whiskers. As Virjor tumbles into Thirteen she fluffs up startled initially, then rushes over to the fallen Virjor and searches him over for injury - inadvertently spreading bits of mildew and dust onto his robes. Once satisfied that there is no injury, she ignores the book for the moment and slips through into the alcove to see if anything else interesting lies within.
Thirteen doesn't budge as Virjor rebounds off his hip. Realising that the wizard is keen on the find, he hauls Vijor back up by the scruff of the neck and pushes the book into the hands of the elf. "This one is for you by the looks. Remember this, for when you stumble across a magical greataxe of returning I think it should be mine." And he grins before walking away.
"So what's the plan?" He says to no-one in particular. "Are we heading deeper into this topsy turvy place?"

"Exploring sounds good to me!" says Max to Thirteen. He wrinkles his brow and wonders aloud, "Which room or hallway should we try next?" He takes a closer look around to see if there are any hidden passages or routes they may have missed. Perception 12
Max sees no missed avenues, but does recall that in the area where you first met Dzaan there was a room to the west that you didn't search. You also didn't explore the room that he and Krintass emerged from.
Cat-Eerie makes herself comfortable in the comfy little alcove and curls up for a nap while the others decide on a direction keeping on ear pricked for a decision.
Of Course, swiftly waking and scurrying along with them when they do.
Always a little nervous to be a leader, Max says, "What do we think about searching the room where Krintass came from?" He looks to Virjor and Thirteen.
Having pulled himself together after his trip, a pleased smile spreads across Virjor's lips as Max looks up to him. "We think that's a marvellous idea my young friend!"
Virjor strides out towards the room where Krintass & Dzaan came from. Checking everything on the way. Perception: 17
Cat-Eerie follows along with the group, briefly making use of her heightened senses from the cat form, then feeling vulnerable in this dangerous environment, reverts back to her gnome one within a few minutes. Staying alert to their surroundings.
@Carric or DM Are Carric's present HP post her healing or is he still at 7? And did we rest or no?
(I haven't amended Carric's stats so I believe that is pre-healing)
You make your way back up to the previous level and check the room that Dzaan appeared from. Some effort has been taken to arrange the contents of this upside-down room, creating a functional office. A table stands in the middle of the room, surrounded by small stacks of books.
In the room to the west a stone altar is attached to the ceiling of this otherwise empty, semicircular room. An eight-pointed star is carved into the eastern face of the altar. The altar hangs 9 feet above the “floor” and merges seamlessly with the “ceiling” to which it’s attached.

Virjor can't discern much of the book at this range (but he can read it during a rest and I shall reveal more).
Max slips the ring off the skeletal finger easily enough. It feels strangely heavy in his pocket (and he can learn all about it during a rest)
Cat-Eerie leaps into the alcove and has a good feline look around; it seems the warforged has cleared it out, but this would make an amazing nap spot.
