I was wondering if a Warlock can create a Longbow out of thin air using the Improved Pact Weapon Invocation, does he or she also create the arrows to be fired from it, or should he or she purchase the appropriate ammunition & a quiver to hold it all until the time comes when they conjure the Longbow Pact Weapon? The description doesn't say anything about the actual ammunition for those weapons. Thoughts?
Personally... if it was my game, I'd let the Warlock have free ammo (they'd probably still be dealing less damage than they would just spamming Eldritch Blast), but RAW, no, it doesn't create ammunition.
Thank you everyone. I agree RAW, no ammo. But I think the argument could be made that the ammo gets created too, so if I was the DM I would allow it depending on the world they were in. Plus I really like the idea of the type of patron affecting what the ammo looks like. In this case, my Warlock’s patron is The Genie - an Efreeti. I’m thinking the arrows would look like streaks of fire or like a shooting star. I’ll ask my DM what he thinks. Hopefully he’ll go for the ammo being generated too.
I'd probably add wording to say that if you use the invocation to summon one of the allowed bow/crossbow types, you also summon a standard load of 20 pieces of ammunition. That strikes me as a reasonable balance.

RAW: Improved Pact Weapon only provides the weapon, not the ammunition.
However, talk to your DM. At that point, it would be an easy argument to have the ammunition be automatically generated for basic functionality.

Agree with the others: RAW, no, but it doesn’t break anything and I’d happily allow it at my table.
I like the idea, but I only keep track of ammo for special types like silver or cold iron and I can always have them run out during Dramatic Events.
Could also flavor the ammunition to match the patron. Eyeball arrows, horn arrows, flower arrows, etc. can add a touch of extra style to the class.

I think I read somewhere that it was intended for pact weapons to provide ammo, but was not written, so...
