After recently watching Avatar: The Last Airbender and Rogue One in a short period of time, I have had the urge to play a blind character who senses things through their powers, much like how Toph sees things through earth-bending or how Chirrut sees things through the Force. My favorite part about these characters is how they can't see typical things (such as faces or what's on a piece of paper), but they could make up for it by seeing things most people couldn't see, like how Toph finds underground structures or how Chirrut saw Jyn's necklace.
I talked to my friend about it, and he suggested that I either take Blind Fighting or Devil's Sight. I wasn't a big fan of either of these. Blind Fighting only has a 10 ft. radius. This might be alright in some cases, but if the character ends up being a spell caster or a ranged fighter they're still basically blind, and it technically wouldn't apply to usage outside of combat. Devil's Sight, on the other hand, grants full sight in darkness, which is very situational and would also negate any "blind" features while in the darkness. I also saw the "Blindsense" that Rogues get at level 14, but that was too long to wait for something that wasn't any better than Blind Fighting. (Arguably, it's worse.)
My friend also mentioned something used by Earth Elementals called Tremorsense (very Toph). He thought it might work if I talked to the DM, especially if it replaced Darkvision. While this was my favorite idea, I still thought it would be cool if there was a class or race (class preferred) that naturally came with a similar feature. Does anyone know of something that might work like this?
This subject comes up periodically and the general consensus is that using disability as a costume is a bad idea for many reasons.
For those that want to play a blind character regardless, the most common suggestion is to make it entirely flavor. Keep your normal senses and just call it something else. If you want to limit yourself to a certain range, then you are perfectly capable of self-limiting.
If you actually introduce a permanent disability like blindness into your game, it is very likely to be disruptive and reduce the fun for everyone else at the table.

You listed this already, but the single closest class feature is the Blind Fighting fighting style, which is functionally 10 foot echolocation/sonar. That said, the find familiar spell can be used to summon a creature with exotic senses, and then you can "borrow" the familiar's senses. You can't really combine this with doing things like spellcasting, since you have to keep spending your action to keep using your familiar's senses, but it does satisfy your requirement of exotic senses.
Also, bear in mind you can reflavor things. For example, Darkvision is in black and white only and works in absolute darkness, meaning however it works, it's not using photons (since it works in the absence of photons). It's 100% consistent with Darkvision's stated mechanics for you to reflavor it as sonar.

Darkvision isn't limited to absolute darkness - "You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray."

He didn't say it was, he said "works in" and that is correct.
