I wonder if i am playing charisma based character, and i want to slowly slowly try to romance/seduce some npc
What actual cheeks i have to roll? Persuasion if i am honest or deception if i lie?
Our DM says that i only have to roll JUST Charisma check, which i feel is a bit not fair, without adding any skill or proficiency bonus, how I am supposed to roll 25-30? if my charisma modifier is just 5
If your DM said a straight Charisma check was in order, then it is.
Personally, i find a Charisma (Persuasion) check wouldn't be out of place though since such skill can be used to foster friendships among other things;
Persuasion: When you attempt to influence someone or a group of people with tact, social graces, or good nature, the DM might ask you to make a Charisma (Persuasion) check. Typically, you use persuasion when acting in good faith, to foster friendships, make cordial requests, or exhibit proper etiquette.
There may be situations where a Charisma (Performance) check might also be appropriate, especially if using the whole romantic candlelit dinner, soft music and moonlight approach. It might be entirely, deeply sincere, but it is also a theatrical performance. Basically, describe your character’s approach, perhaps suggest a skill or ability check and why you think it might be appropriate, but your DM has the final say.
DM can set the DC to whatever they want. There is no hard limit.
In general, the DM only should call for an ability/skill check if the success of the action is in question, or if there are degrees of success/failure. If something is impossible, the DM should not call for a roll at all. If something is an everyday easy activity (i.e. walking, opening a door, bringing a mug to your lips, etc) then a roll should (in general) not be called for, as the result should really not be in question. A normal person can open a door, drink from a glass, etc.

Good day people,

There are no official rules for it -- it's an "ask your DM" situation.

Thank you for your responses, I took Glibness as magic arcanum of 8th level, and passed all his 20 charisma checks easy)))))))))))))
Another question, i tried to persuade/seduce the succubus in our campaign,
DM asked me to roll 30 for persuasion
Considering that i have expertise in persuasion on my level, that's +17, and because of Glibness min roll of D20 is 15, so at minimum i am rolling 32.
Can DM put me a DC Of 40 for example? as I read in players handbook 30 is nearly impossible and is kind of max?
DM can set the DC to whatever they want. There is no hard limit.
