In the strange situation/case where a character gets unconcious AND gains THP's in the same time, what happens?
Does the character stay kinda concious, because of the THP?
Or does he simply fall unconcious but has the THP's to simply soak up any eventual coming damage?
The situation might come up because of an item(homebrewed) that is received as reward, that lets you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can immediately make an attack with a weapon before you fall unconscious.( a last ditch effort if you will), but another object gives you THP's if you reduce the creature to 0Hp, like the Bloodspear.
Some spells and special abilities confer temporary hit points to a creature. Temporary hit points aren't actual hit points; they are a buffer against damage, a pool of hit points that protect you from injury.
If you have 0 hit points, receiving temporary hit points doesn't restore you to consciousness or stabilize you. They can still absorb damage directed at you while you're in that state, but only true healing can save you.
They can still be useful if you're on zero hp though! The character is unconscious on the floor and will be making death saves. Note that taking any damage counts as an automatic failed death save - the temporary hitpoints can prevent that from happening by absorbing the damage.

So what then?
