"...The aegis is a dim, gray aura of earth magic that protects the target. Any bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage the target takes is reduced by 2 + your sorcerer level divided by 4.This effect lasts for 1 minute, until you use it again, or until you are incapacitated..."
I've copied the section of the text from the Stone Aegis feature, as you can see by the highlighted text it specifically calls out your sorcerer level, so at 6th level when you gain the feature it would be 6/4=1.5 which rounded down would be 1 for a total of 3 damage reduction if applicable.
i mean this section you can then make one melee weapon attack against the attacker. If that attack hits, it deals an extra 1d10 force damage. This extra damage increases to 2d10 at 11th level and 3d10 at 17th level.
I'd say that it works like other class/subclass features: it scales off of class level unless otherwise stated. So it increases to 2d10 at sorcerer 11, not at a total level of 11.

It is based on class level, not character level. Basically every class feature in 5e scales on class level. Proficiency bonus and Cantrip damage are the only things I can think of that always scale on character level. I'm sure there are more, but this isn't one of them.

If I multiclass into a stone sorcerer would my stone aegis be based on my total level in sorcerer or would it be based on my total character level.
