And olive oil, cooking mushroom you want a medium high heat with olive oil to avoid sticking, but you got to get the water to evaporate or your just eating soggy boiled mushrooms, a little salt and pepper at the end. You don’t have to get fancy with edible mushrooms.
To just make food to eat I don’t call for anything. To make food taste fantastic I call for a Wis (cook's utensils) check.
Wis make a lot of sense if your winging it, perception of flavor and all that, but if they are proficient, I would add they can use int if they want as part of they I know what I am doing.
I tend to default to Wisdom, unless the players are doing something very specific. Example - the other night a player wanted to butcher a giant frog for provisions and said he was using the butchery tools he purchased in town. I used Dexterity for that one, since butchering a giant frog was completely new to that character.

Monster: Osprey Feat: Skill Mastery–Animal Handler (Provides DCs for training animals applicable to those with and without this feat)
