Greetings fellow adventurers! Today I come seeking some clarification in regards to how multiple classes use of the Extra Attack feature would take hold in a multi-class.
For example, what would it look like if, let's say, my 7th level hexblade with the Thirsting Blade invocation takes a major dip into the Fighter or Paladin classes to the tune of 5 levels, where they get their Extra Attack feature?
Or, what if my barbarian decided to learn a little focus at 5th level, and started taking levels in fighter until they got another five levels and another Extra Attack?
Would they get three attacks whenever they take the Attack action, or do these features not stack in some way that's clarified in another section?
Thanks in advance for your advice, and may the chests you find be full of loot, and bereft of any tongues or teeth.

The wording of the various Extra Attack features that you can get is explicitly crafted so they do not stack. None of them say "you can attack one additional time", they say "you can attack twice"(in the case of the Fighter, it expands to three or four times). So if you were Paladin5/Fighter5, you wouldn't be able to attack three times, because none of your class features say you can. You have two that say "you can attack twice". So....you can attack twice.
Similarly the various TWF type things all use your Bonus Action. So you can't do both the Monk Flurry AND use Two weapon Fighting to get 2 additional attacks.
But the additional attack via Bonus Action (TWF/Monk) does in fact stack with the Extra Attack feature that fighters etc. get.
Also, class features like the Hunter/Ranger’s Horde Breaker stacks perfectly with every other type of attack because it doesn’t use an action or bonus action at all. It’s basically a completely free attack if you meet the conditions. These abilities are rare but valuable to look out for 🙂
So, to be clear, If I have a multiclass fighter level 10 and a Barbarian level 10 would only have 2 attacks per action and not 4 attacks per action? (2 from each class?)

First of all, you should have been asking if you had 3, not 4. By this logic a ranger 5/paladin 5/fighter 5/barbarian 5 would have no fewer than 8 attacks without action surge. Usually people assume each instance of extra attack gives 1 additional attack, not 2.
Anyway, the multiclass rules specifically say that multiple instances of extra attack do not stack.

No. The multiclassing rules explain this, here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/customization-options#ClassFeatures.

This is all true.

Correct, two attacks per action.
Thank-you. Seems wrong, but I understand.
