Probably a dumb question, but if you get hit while you have Holy Weapon in effect do you still have to role for concentration? Lol planning to take my celestial college of swords bard on this "Holy Warrior" story arc.
Yes, you need to roll for concentration any time you take damage.
This is the correct answer. It is possible to be hit, yet take no damage. Damage is what actually causes a concentration save to be made.
Hey I know this thread is like REALLY old but im trying to break dnd here and I had to ask something
Can holy weapon stack with itself? Like lets say we had 2 clerics and I, the fighter, was about to do a bunch of attacks, can they cast holy weapon on the same weapon (ie, my weapon). Letting me deal 4d8 damage per hit
The effects of different spells add together while the durations of those spells overlap. The effects of the same spell cast multiple times don’t combine, however. Instead, the most potent effect—such as the highest bonus—from those castings applies while their durations overlap.
For example, if two clerics cast bless on the same target, that character gains the spell’s benefit only once; he or she doesn’t get to roll two bonus dice.

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.

It would probably be a waste of slots and concentration, but two blesses on the same target would be two die rolled, just the highest roll would be used I believe.
As an example I believe if two die were rolled, the higher die roll would always be used, since that roll would be the most potent effect.
I wouldn’t call it stacking though since it’s more of a re-roll in that spell example. It’s not additive, so the maximum never increases, but you would be more likely to roll higher on average.
I’ve also never done this and will likely never do this with any spell.
