Leif 1: activates Symbiotic Entity for 12 temp. hit points.
Leif 2: does same.
Leif 1: runs up to Leif 2, succeeding on Halo of Spores save with a 20. hits Leif 2 with a roll of 10 for his first club, dealing 2+1 damage to Leif 2, before attacking again with his other club, hitting with a 14, dealing 4+6 damage. Leif 2 is out of Symbiotic Entity.
Leif 2: Leif 2 Disengages and runs away.
Leif 1: Leif 1 conjures an Ice Knife, and yeets it at Leif 2. it hits with a 19, dealing...1 damage. Leif 2 fails his save and takes 11 cold damage. leif 2 is now at 8 HP.
Leif 2: in response, Leif 2 yeets his own ice knife, hitting with a 22, dealing 3 damage to Leif 1. Leif 1 somehow, with 7 dex, succeeds on the save.
Leif 1: Leif 1 yeets another ice knife, hitting with a 13, and dealing 2 damage. Leif 2 fails on the dex save, taking 4 damage.
Leif 2: Leif 2 casts Fog Cloud, greatly obsuring him and his area with frigid mist
Leif 1: Leif 1 casts Spike Growth centered on the same area as fog cloud, covering the ground in sharp icicles. if Leif 2 tries to leave, he'll take damage.
Leif 2: Leif 2 yeets an ice knife at leif 1, with disadvantage, because he can't see out of the fog, missing. however, even on a miss, Leif 1 still has to make a Dex save, and fails, taking 7 damage.
Leif 1: Leif 1 yeets an ice knife at the hidden Leif 2, missing. however, Leif 2 fails the Dex save and takes 10 damage, knocking him out.
Leif 2: even with advantage on death saves, Leif 2 fails his first one. he is unconcious in a pile of icicles, and the fog dissapeared.
Leif 1: finally without disavantage, Leif 1 yeets an ice knife with his last 1st level spell slot, and hits with a 17 because he now has advantage, dealing 7 damage to leif 2, causing a second death save failure. then, Leif 2 automatically fails his dex save, taking 6 damage, causing a death save failure, killing the duplicate.
I like the presumption herein that reborn Leif1 is the OG. As a Reborn, Leif1 will never be too sure whether he's the OG or not, or if it even matters. Very John Dies at the End.

Now coming to terms with his power as a deathless entity, Leif must battle himself...again.

Leif 1: Leif 1 runs up to Leif 2 and succeeds on the save against Halo of Spores, before activating Symbiotic Entity, gaining 28 Temp. HP.
Leif 2: fails the save against Halo of Spores, taking 6 necrotic damage, before activation Symbiotic entity himself.
Leif 1: succeeds on the Halo of Spores save before attacking with his clubs. his first one misses, but the second one hits, dealing 4+6 damage.
Leif 2: Succeeds on Halo of Spores save. attacks with his clubs. both attacks hit, dealing a total of 15 damage to leif 1.
Leif 1: Leif 1 takes 4 Halo of Spores damage and backs away, narrowly avoiding an oppurtunity attack, before upcasting Ice Knife into a 4th level spell, hitting Leif 2 for a measly 1 damage...but then Leif 2 fails his save and takes 18 cold damage. 2 is out of Symbiotic Entity.
Leif 2: Leif 2 attempts to cloud Leif 1's mind with ice using confusion, and succeeds.
Leif 1: Leif 1 stands in place, staring off into the distance.
Leif 2: Leif 2 tries to freeze Leif 1's eyes with Blindness, but fails.
Leif 1: Leif stands in place, staring off into the distance.
Leif 2:...void below, he'll probably win, if he just yeets a bunch of ice knifes, and then starts meleeing, there's no chance Leif 1 could possibly win.
Leif 1 was bested by himself, time for some training.
For my paladin, oath of the ancients is a very 'neutral good' centered subclass, so maybe for a duel with her evil self it'd be more fun to have her fight an oathbreaker version of herself rather than one with the same abilities. Otherwise it'd probably devolve into the same 'whoever goes first or has the better luck with crits wins' territory as with my rogue.
In a campaign I played recently my character, for in game reasons left the group and became an evil npc. The rest of the party didn't know why he left in the middle of the night and chased after. I got my new character and eventually we caught up. We were 10th level, my previous character was 11th... The DM told me, though I wasn't surprised, that my previous character would attack us. Then he asked if I wanted to play him as well.
I agreed and nearly tpk'ed my own party (mainly focusing my old characters attacks on my new character because I didn't really want to kill them).
I tried for fun (please note: I have played exactly one session in my life at this point, can't wait for take 2 tomorrow!), but it turned out too uninteresting to be worth giving a play-by-play. Out of a combination of poor choices on my newbie part, terrible rolls, and one small uncertainty on the rules that made me hesitate to use the full range of options, my adorable little gnome wizard lost to her evil twin at the end, but it was a close thing. It was pretty boring, though. Magic Missile was the only thing that made a serious dent in either of them.

And your CN opposite just can't get their entropic existence together in a fashion to contend with its LN opposite.

worth noting that leif is based somewhat on the character of the same name from an obscure video game

My current characters are the Cleric/Paladin and the Artificer.
The former would be a smashing, Smiting, Heal-fest until one of them got a Crit or rolled a really bad Heal or something.
The latter would be fascinated by the other and they would likely sit down and talk for hours while working on their respective Steel Defenders.

So the answer is yes, with a different premise ;)
