I'm semi new to DnD, and have been playing a few short campaigns with my friends. I love making characters, and have just made this one, to spice things up, but I need to know if it's actually okay before I play with it. (Remember that quite a bit of this is homebrew, and has been approved by the DM)
Name: Argyle and Eddie Finch
Class: Rogue (Assassin) and Bard (College of Whispers)
Race: High Elf
Level: 3
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral and Neutral Good
Personality: Selfish and Murderous Loner, Cheerful and Wimpy Pacifist
Backstory: The Finch Twins were born as princes in a castle in the cold Etia. The brothers never really got along very well, mostly because of the favouritism from the King and Queen. Argyle Finch was raised by the King to become a welltrained assassin, to defend the kingdom. The King used to be a highly endorsed mercenary, before he eventually married the Queen and becam King. Because of this, Argyle was raised to become a very moody person, who never really cared for anyone other than his younger sister, the princess. He isn't the brightest person ever, but put him on a battlefield, and he'll soon see it to an end. Eddie Finch, on the other hand, was primarily raised by the Queen, who was a well-renowned religious singer, whos' songs could revitalize the whole kingdom. Eddie is a very cowardous person, and only really plays in the sidelines of life. Although he doesn't speak much up for himself, he loves to help other out and always thinks of others before himself. He is often seen as a disgrace to the royal family, but there is always one person who never looks down on him; his younger sister, the princess The Castle of Etia is very corrupt, and is primarily controlled by the Lust-clan who also dominates a big part of Ymira. The corruption has led to hunger, fear and even abduction and sacrifices amongst the whole kingdom. One day, when the supreme leader of the Lust-clan needed another sacrifice, he turned to the King and Queen and demanded the young princess to be the chosen one. The King and Queen begged for her mercy, and because of their great service, the supreme leader let her live. Although the Lust- clan still needed a capable person to help in his evil ways, so who chose to hold the princess captive instead. The Finch Brothers, devastated by this, finally agreed on something and protested highly about it to the supreme leader. Angrily, the supreme leader again demanded a sacrifice, and asked the King and Queen to turn one of the Twins over to the Lust-clan as an ultimate sacrifice. The King and Queen argued about who to sacrifice, again because of their favouritsm. The supreme leader grew inpatient and chose to screw over both of the Twins, by entrapping both of them in one body, for eternity. After doing so, the Twins fled from the castle in their new body, and went to look for their sister.
Ignore any locations stated in the backstory, that's just for the upcoming campaign.
The basic gist of the character is that two twin brothers get entrapped into into one body, whereas they both want to be in control. I was heavily inspired by MoonKnight (if that wasn't obvious).
Argyle the Rogue is amazing in combat, put isn't the brightest outside of it. He only thinks of himself and don't want to do anything with any of the other members of the squad. Eddie the Bard is really clever, and always wants to help his friends. He is amazing at finding clues and assisting in whatever way he can. yet he is almost useless in combat, and always tends to the sidelines when put upto it.
The way that the two characters switch between eachother is by me rolling a d4 at every major event (Start of combat, every two or three turns in combat, end of combat, meeting a new person, arriving at a new place, entering shops, etc.), and whenever it lands on a 1, they switch.
Argyle the Rogue knows (Because of the High Elf subrace) True Strike. Eddie the Bard knows:
Vicious Mockery
Mending
Cure Wounds
Command
Thunderwave
Featherfall
Enhance Ability
Crown of Madness
I would love some feedback, some suggestions or just a review on this character, so I know what to improve on before I start playing.

In my experience, whenever you get creative and have an awesome idea and your DM approves it, it makes for awesome, interesting and funny situations.
I think the switching mechanic you have chosen works, but you should decide with your DM if you choose when switches can occur or if the DM does.
Concerning leveling I assume both Characters will always be the same level. I personally don't think Eddie should get experience and level if Argyle was the only one fighting. On the other hand your party will outlevel you if only one of the Characters gets the experience.
Overall roleplaying wise this has a lot of potential, but also a lot of challenges. Like does Argyle know what Eddie is doing? Do they know all the Characters the other knows? Could it happen that they switch mid conversation and dont know what the other was talking about. Do they both have individual attunement slots? Is the switch something that they can prevent if they want to? A lot of question about this mechanic that you should be clear about before you start playing.
I was actually also thinking that a timer could work with the switching, every 10-15 minutes or so. That way it's even more out of control.
Haven't thought of leveling, so thanks for catching me on that. The share the same HP, of course.
To answer your questions, both for your in my own sake:
They don't know what either of them do, if you have seen Moon Knight, the sort of just black out whenever the other person takes over. Same with last question, they only know what they have experienced themselves. I implemented a mechanic, also from Moon Knight, that they could communicate with each other through reflections, so that they actually know about each other. Yes, with the timer mechanic that should work perfectly. Even spells and such would be disrupted when they switch. I actually don't know what attunement slots are, and is quite positive that we don't have that implemented in our campaign. But again, thanks for catching me on it! The prevention of switch is a constant thing, since they always fight of being the one in control. I had planned a lot about it, but wanted to simplify it down to a simple d4 roll so it doesn't take up too much attention from the game. (Worked perfectly in Moon Knight, yet if I do it here in DnD it almost seems like my character is the main person and I don't want that.
The campaign is also very RP heavy, so this character is perfect for it.
Thanks for your input, I'll definitely have to look into the level up system.
