I'm about to start running a campaign set in a Polynesian style setting. The players will deal with undead including intelligent undead, spirits, fae, beasts, and humans as foes. The technology level is further back - no bows, crossbows, chain or plate mail.
I want various songs for a background soundtrack for various occasions. So far I have Baba Yetu and most of the Adiemus album, as well as a couple tracks by other world artists. Can you give me some more recommendations for songs or artists? The songs can also be specifically themed like 'characters walking through town', 'characters at sea', 'exploring a cave of undead', etc.
One way to find Polynesian music is to look up popular island nation songs.
a not very serious suggestion, maybe slip it into the music playlist for a session, is the coconut nut song on YouTube.

Hollow unbreakable arrows are the most OP common magic item, and my current method of coming up with insane combat shenanigans.
if you make a steel pipe with one end closed and a nozzle on the other, you can enlarge it, fill with any liquid, and then drop concentration, creating a high pressure squirt gun. (or a pipe bomb, depending if it holds)
Yeah, I can’t say I have too many specific references for you, though I love your setting. Definitely look up Polynesian artists and check out their music! Sure that its just a google search away. Probably couldn’t go wrong finding music from video games set in a sailing/Polynesia-adjacent world (I know there are some indie titles). I usual go with game music since its made to be somewhat ambient and enhance dialogue rather than distract from it. Wish I knew more!
I would love to hear more about this campaign setting, as it sounds fascinating to me. Also, some really great opportunities for reimagining classic D&D classes visually in that context. I always love stuff like that.
A classic undead Dark Lord has recently come from the Forbidden Island and tried to conquer the archipelago, but the various tribes and kingdoms banded together to fight back. The players come from peaceful villages on one or more islands, and they were drafted (female characters volunteered) into the army. The characters have bonded before the start of the campaign, as they are the few survivors from their original unit and have fought together. Any magic the players have must be reskinned into natural human abilities (example: the 'friends' spell is the character breaking social conventions).
The campaign opens with them being part of an invasion of the forbidden island, and they take minor roles in the final phase of the conflict. The character who will be a wizard finds a book of dark magics, the fighter style character a suit of heavy armor. Other heroes more experienced than the PCs defeat the dark lord, and the war is over. The campaign generally takes place in the aftermath, as the greatest king tries to consolidate power, lieutenants of the dark lord try to flee and carve out their own power bases, towns deal with the aftermath of losing a large fraction of their fighting age men, and various local petty conflicts and injustices need seeing to. Also, the nature spirits and fae creatures seem riled up by the conflict and environmental damage. The PCs, at some point probably hired as legal deputies of some authority, go from place to place resolving these problems.
Over time, it becomes clear that something is not at all well. The spirits are weakening, the fae are becoming hostile, and the wizard discovers bits of dark magic which suggest that the Dark Lord might have faked his own death. The climax comes when they realize that the heroes who 'killed' the dark lord were actually dominated by him, and that the dark lord is consolidating power behind the facade of the rising power of the high king. The PCs have to defeat or free the other heroes, invade the castle, unmask the Dark Lord and defeat him, for real this time.
Also, if I can manage it, leveling up will be organic - not one level but one ability at a time, and tied to whatever mission they just completed, i.e. stew made from the flesh of a great beast adds hit points, or a nature spirit granting a boon gives the druid the ability to cast spike growth. All players will reach the next full level simultaneously, but the transition will be gradual.

If you like Baba Yetu, then you might enjoy the Soundtrack music from Epcot. Namely IlumiNations: Reflections of Earth
Edit: I love the story you added. Look up music by Martin Denny, one song is actually called Forbidden Island.
I am not sure what my Spirit Animal is. But whatever that thing is, I am pretty sure it has rabies!
