I have this personal story that i am actively working on, and the three main characters are heavily affiliated with a guild. I want to go in more depth with this guild's way of living, and what it is like from the inside, and how what they do might be viewed from the outside. Here is how I could describe it...
This is a guild that heavily focuses on their military-like aspects and diplomacy. There are many other guilds around them that are similar to this way of life, and so they constantly have their guard up, very literally, with armed, trained soldiers guarding their base in-front, on top of, and behind their base's defensive stone wall. The guild does not have many enemies, and rogue groups of bandits or other hostiles are one of their main concerns, this doesn't mean they don't have territory skirmishes with other guilds though.
Their base is this one building with pretty much all they need inside of it. Housing, medical rooms, kitchens, armories, and etc. Training is done in the large yard behind the base, and in patrols.
They consist of any kind of person, from any background. They have designated people sent out for recruitment, and some are born into the guild. They have morals and do not kidnap others into the guild, specifically demanded by the leader.
Anyways, what I need help with is what ranks, jobs, and positions should i add on to the guild. I want them to be well organized. Right now I have the basics:
(Anywhere with an exclamation mark ! is where I would like to flesh out more, and have more info)
The leader - The final say, nothing much else to say about them. Just the leader.
Co-leader - This is an optional rank, and usually co-leaders are the significant other of the leader, but don't have to be.
Deputy - Are second to the co-leader, they can manage things for the leader, and can make choices that can be executed without question as long as it's understandably in the leader's favor, or if it wasn't backfired by the leader.
!Officer - Are in command of guards and can manage armories.
Recruiter - Trained to go out and recruit others from the outside. Usually are given a set recommended number of people to recruit, so overpopulation does not occur, and so they can get enough people. Can be sent out by a deputy or higher.
Mentor - Self explanatory. Can mentor people. This role can be given to anyone and they can specialize in mentoring different positions. Pre-teens and older must always be assigned a mentor for self defense and weapon-handling. Mentors can teach groups.
!Guard/Soldier - Basic member who can go on patrols and guard the base, or be involved in warfare.
Member - Very basic. Everyone is considered a member.
Apprentice - Usually a child, but anyone in training by a mentor.
I'd like to have more ranks, like perhaps a group a people whose job is to assist the leader in diplomatic exchanges with other guilds, or messengers. Like what job would be helpful in this guild, no matter how specific it is. I want to be specific here, and completely document this guild. I need to understand guilds better lol. Ask questions about the guild if you want to as well, please. I love answering questions and also it could help me understand what I'm doing too.
One more thing too! I need to name it, but I'm not sure how naming a guild would actually go.
