Gold dragons. While they and red dragons are about the same up to Ancient, (4 Wyrmling, 10 Young, 17 Adult, 24 Ancient for Red, and 3 Wyrmling, 10 Young, 17 Adult, 24 Ancient) the Red Greatwyrm is CR 27, and the Gold Greatwyrm is CR 28. So by RAW, the Gold dragon is the master of all non-immortal dragons.
Greatwyrms are, in 5E an abberation as dragons go since they're not just age categories, there's a bunch of weirdness that goes on it a dragon becoming a greatwyrm (and the power of a greatwyrm is based exclusively on whether they're chromatic or metallic). Based on normal dragons? Red dragons are the most powerful in 5E.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Canonically, Gold dragons have always been more powerful than Red. In 1e and 2e they were worth more XP (i.e. had more HD, Treasure and magic than Red). In 3e & 3.5e they were higher CR. In 4e there were higher level.
That's what I get for going off memory instead of looking it up: I thought that the Ancient Red had higher strength and con than the Ancient Gold, for some reason. But I'm really not sure how you're doing the math that says that 13d10 is greater that 26d6.

Gold dragons have more versatility, so they are generally stronger. Also, Gold dragons have a high bonus to Wisdom, so if Red Dragon uses frightful presence, the gold dragon will most likely succeed. However, Red Dragons have a significantly lower chance of succeeding on the saving throw against gold dragons, so that could heavily affect the outcome of a straight-up battle between the two types.
Yo! In lore which dragon types are the strongest? im assuming its the gold or red tho that might be me assuming from stat blocks

How so? The Adult Gold Dragon has better saves, more abilities, a more damaging breath weapon, and a higher DC fear effect than an Adult Red Dragon.

I compared Adult Gold Dragon to Adult Red Dragon
