A Very naive CG fire genasi sorcerer/paladin that was a Hermit. That’s all I got. Help with the backstory would be cool(don’t make it very tragic plz).
maybe his hut burned down and he saw that in the fire. lost his fishing pole and everything in that fire.
maybe he didn't even escape the fire, he was trapped inside and the phoenix saved him...unlocking some wierd magic within him...he's still upset about his favorite fishing pole though.
Well he doesn’t fit in with society, he is fire genasi, plus he acts the opposite way that a normal fire genasi would. He hides his appearance and is not self confident
Okay, so that makes him an outlier both as a fire genasi AND as a paladin.
Reluctant Hero, greatness thrust upon him by some force he's never come in contact with before, so far so good. You said in the other thread that the Phoenix sent him gear in a meteor. Why did the Phoenix pick this shrinking violet? Of all the people in the world, why would a guy who's basically in permanent retreat from the world be the guy tasked with protecting the Plane of Fire? You answer that question, lots of the backstory will fall into place.
Call me old-fashioned, but I think heroes should be good. Let's say NG.
Usually, hermits don't have rivals. It defeats the purpose of becoming a hermit. Also, our hero doesn't sound especially competitive. Is the water guy attacking the realm of flame or something?
For a guy who thinks he's so great, the water guy sounds like he needs a hobby. Why would you walk all the way out into the woods to bug a hermit when you're THE guy? Are they bound together by some force neither one truly understands? What's gonna happen now that our hero has superpowers? Is he going to get twisted up by a desire to take revenge on his bully or is he going to realize that he has bigger stuff to worry about now that he has to protect the plane of fire and start living his own life?
I feel like the water guy could be the paladin if the water domain but the power got to his head.
our hero (that I’m naming flare)wants to get revenge on the water genasi but knows it’s wrong. So that’s a solid flaw he could have, Dealing with moral choices.
Dealing with moral choices is what separates paladins and fighters. Good thought.
A flare is something that grabs attention. Our hero seems like a spark or an ember. Something that doesn't start off impressive, but if you take care of it, it grows.
Moving along, who are our hero's parents? Did they tell him about this bloodline of his?
No he did not, the fire genasi DNA was dormant until he came along so his parents gave him over to someone else who was a roll model to him. This roll model showed him a hut in the woods that would later become our heroes home when he becomes a hermit.

He was chilling in his hut but then a vision of a Phoenix came and told him to protect the plane of fire or something

He could of came from a blood line of warriors that protected the plane of fire.
Also can you help me with his rival, a water genasi that is full of himself? That would be nice
And do you think he would be true neutral instead of CG or NG. Sorry I’m gonna ask for a lot of backstory help, I usually play one shots.

This water genasi is THE guy in the near by city. He goes up to my fire genasi to constantly bug him on how great he is, ETC.
Then my fire genasi moved to the woods yet some how this guy finds him and bugs him.
Thanks for the help timcurtin and heathsmith for the help!

Now where can we put his stats? I got a (drum roll) 18,16,14,10,10 and a low 8.
