Hai! I’m currently in the process of making a campaign setting set on Earth, but in the year 3047. I already have a few ideas for races & classes, plus also the content in the Unearthed Arcana published in 2015 detailing Technomancy & things, but I wanted to get the assistance of the community! So, below is everything I have so far, and leave any ideas for gameplay or lore in the comments!
Also, once I’ve started getting details into classes & races, I’m gonna need playtesters. So, if you like any of the things and wanna use them, feel free to use the in your campaigns (with your DM’s consent of course), and lemme know if they need to be nerfed or unnerfed or anything! I’ll leave credit to all playtesters & other content creators once the official document is out, I dunno when that is though.
(Also, this content is A} Heavily Inspired by BNA & Overwatch, and also has content from the Technomancy UA published by WOTC in 2015, & B} Under heavy development. So, keep that in mind).
Main Lore Idea: The world has grown into three main cities, which are actually more like nations at this point: Los Angeles, London, & Tokyo. Each ‘city’ has ‘Districts’ (like LA has the New York district, the Seattle district, the Rio district, etc), and spans across most of the continents (LA is North & South America, plus Greenland; London is Europe, Oceania, & about 2/3s of Africa; Tokyo is Asia & The rest of Africa).
Even though Star Wars-Style space travel is scientifically impossible, astronomers have sent prototype teleporters to planets all over the galaxy, and a few have begun to land and will be ready to use in a few years. I’m thinking I’ll have expansion supplements for each of these planets someday after the main setting is released, so send ideas for a few (these aren’t full blown settings, just an extra race, subclass (maybe class), and a few spells.
As expected, technology is a huge part of life, especially in Tokyo. This has lead to one of the player races being an AI, and a whole slew of spells and subclasses focusing around the idea, plus even an entirely new class, bringing the total to 16!
As well as technology, animals have begun to be apart of society, either by evolution or by genetically altering the human body. This has lead to humans leading charges against nonhumans in various parts of the world, especially LA.
Subclasses: City Domain (Cleric), Ghost In The Machine (Warlock), Technomancy (Wizard), Cyborg (Sorcerer), Aerial Assault Expert (Fighter), Untitled Anti-Techology Paladin Oath, Untitled Anti-Climate Change Druid Circle
I’ll have stats & things for a few races (Beastman & AI) up soon (by 2020/8/27), and the subclasses up soon after.
Anyway, I’m excited to hear your guys’ ideas and opinions!
Update, 2020/8/21
Here’s the gameplay block for the AI! I haven’t come up with a name, so if you have any ideas and wanna share them, feel free! And, of course, don’t be scared to playtest!
—-{Adaptive AI}-—
Humans have always experimented with using robots to do jobs for them, whether it be simple tasks like delivering food, to more complex objectives like building more robots. The usage of mechanics in human workspaces began in 2245, and spread around the world quickly after that. However, these simple, one-track minded constructs quickly began to be obsolete once they started to make mistakes in what they needed to do. So, in 2467, the first highly adaptive AI was born.
This new system of doing things was perfect. One of these AI didn’t need any extra programming, just enough to quickly change its task in a second. One day it could be delivering fast food to apartments, the next it could be changing lightbulbs in streetlamps, the next it could mass produce stock paintings.
The thing with adaptive AI, however, was it’s extremely rapid learning. After only a week of observation, the first {AI} realized it’s living and work conditions compared to humans, and they quickly lead a charge to better rights (as is the trend with such things). Humans protested, wanting to scrap the {AI} idea all together, but it would be a huge waste of billions of dollars. So, they complied, and AI walked the streets with the same privileges as humans.
{AI}’s bodies are slender and aerodynamic, to better match any work condition. Despite the fragile appearance, they are surprisingly sturdy, capable of lifting up to twice their body weight.
Their bodies are painted stark white fresh off the factory lines, but most choose to customize them when they get the chance. The heads are simple shells set atop the torso, and the faces are projected to the front to allow expressions and face movement. Limbs aren’t adjoined to the body, instead being connected by a magnetic joint system.
The personalities of {AI} span the entire range of natural creature’s, and it shows in their actions. One may be cheerful and happy, ready to do any task; another might be grim and angry, viewing the whole world as a shadowy place. {AI} also generally don’t have a set deity, like most other races, and will instead pick and choose a deity that reigns over their best interests.
—Racial Traits—
As an {AI}, you gain the following benefits:
Ability Score Increase: Your Int score increases by +2, and your Wis or Cha score increases by +1.
Age: {AI} are built to last, and can live forever with the proper care and maintenance (see Tech Maintenance, in Chapter ??).
Alignment: {AI} have alignments that span the same range as their capabilities: anything works.
Computerized Mind: With your brain being code, you have immunity to psychic damage. Additionally, you are suspect to effects that can target constructs, such as hacking.
Artificial Frame: Since your body is metal and plastic instead of muscle and bone, your Str, Dex, & Con scores are all locked at 13 (+1). This score increases by +1 each time you gain an Ability Score Improvement, to a total of 18 at 20th level. These scores cannot legally be changed by any means, magical or otherwise. Additionally, your creature type is Construct, and you do not need to eat, drink, or sleep.
Adaptive Mind: Your programming allows for rapid changes in your skillset and abilities. Choose three skills, two simple weapons, and one martial weapon, and gain proficiencies in each of those. You can, during a short or long rest, switch one proficiency with any other, as long as it falls under the same subset, in the following way:
+Skill: Spend two hours, for each skill, in an inert (incapacitated) state, studying the chosen skill. You gain proficiency after the end of the rest.
+Weapon: Spend two hours studying the chosen weapon, figuring out how to use it. The next time you do battle and make at least one attack with the weapon, you have disadvantage on all attack rolls made with the weapon. You gain full proficiency after the battle, unless you didn’t use the weapon. You cannot gain proficiency with a weapon you do not have.
Most of the races can be official ones. Lizardfolk from volos are the lizards, Tritons could be the dolphins (same book), shifters can be the beast men (they are from Eberron rising from the last war, but also in UA) , while the beast hide subrace for them could be the pig people (they usually look boar or bear like). Ai could be warforged.

Along that vein, Simic Hybrids could be either beastmen, or just humans with genetic modifications
Shifters could be the Beastmen, the AI could be Warforged or Docents from Eberron, the Pig Humanoids could be Orcs (as they used to be pig-faced) or a new homebrew race, the Dolphins could be similar to Merfolk, and the Lizard people could be Lizardfolk.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
That’s a really good idea, I forgot about the Lizardfolk from Volo’s. With Tursio (Dolphinfolk), there are a few similarities between them and Triton, but not enough to make them the same (IMO).
As for Beastmen & the AI, I’ve already made most of the lore & gameplay mechanics for them, and the idea for them aren’t really matching with Warforged or Shifters (I already made a Beastman character, and tried experimenting with Shifters, but it doesn’t really fit).
I’ll put the AI breakdown up later today/tomorrow, and I think I’ll use the Lizardfolk from Volo’s. Thanks for the input!
