Heyo, I would like to create a character Based off of the character sylas from League of Legends for my D&D games. I am thinking that eldritch knight could work, wild something barb or maybe just wizard? Here's some links for help;
he appears to look and play like a monk if you discounting the chains (those would need to be homebrewed or maybe a a reskin of that one double-bladed weapon name escapes me ). monk would net you the physical look and appearance, and mimic his abilities to dash around as well, and with the right subclass it would be fairly easy to customize just how much magic you want. such as way of the four elements allows you to cast spells. although i think astral self would be my pick for this.
The Arcane Trickster's Spellthief ability seems to me a large part of Sylas's identity, but 17 levels is a long way to go.
For the shorter term (and as a non-monk suggestion) maybe a Bladesinging Wizard would work, choosing the whip as your proficient one-handed weapon and favoring Lightning Lure as your extra attack at level 6.
Personally, I think Monk would make more sense than Bladeslinger. Sylas doesn't really have a lot of his own magic, he steals it from others. However, I think Battle Master Fighter would make a lot of sense since some of the maneuvers could simulate Sylas' kit (ex: Sweeping Attack is basically his passive). Talk to your DM about Dyrrn's Tentacle Whip. It's a bit strong to start with, but you could easily homebrew a version of that item to simulate a chain that is bound to your wrist (mainly the Symbiotic Nature feature).
As ArntItheBest stated, dual-wielding isn't a great idea with Monk since they use their bonus action for many things. However, if you're going Battle Master then I think the dual wield feat would make sense. Depending on your starting level, you could start with two of those chains bound to you then get the dual wielding feat when you are able to.
Damn that seems hard to pull together from the features I can remember in game.
Bladesinger til level 6 lets you do the PETRACITE BURST. The cantrip replacing an attack isn’t limited to wizard cantrips so you have a bit of versatility. Swordburst scales decently, especially if it’s replacing one of those attacks. Swordburst is friendly fire though.
the slasher feat may be able to work with your augmented extra attack and swordburst cantrip to replicate CHAIN SLASH. Attacking from further away with a whip and using Ray of frost could reduce a good bit of speed.
KINGSLAYER could be replicated a bit by trying to use vampiric touch, enervation, or maybe the lizard folk/damper race if those sound better to you.
choosing to be an eladrin elf gives a bonus action teleport that recharges on a short rest. Since the teleport is not a spell it doesn’t limit your action to cantrips if you want to cast a leveled spell. This can save a bit on spell slots you may use on misty step to replicate ABSCOND/ABDUCT. You can increase this a bit more by taking the fey touched feat eventually to save a spell slot and spell choice while potentially taking advantage of the +1 ability score.
I don’t know if anything in the game that seems like it can really replicate the HIJACK feature. Closest thing is the level 17 arcane trickster feature, but that thing sucks in my opinion and requires far too much investment. I think I’d maybe request a custom spell or magic item that can be used. It would have to involve some sort of saving throw, but on success you gain a version of a spell or feature that the target has access to.
