Last session I rolled poorly looking through an enchanter's defective scrap pile. As a joke, the dm told me I found a magical -10 sword [edit: the way he explained it made it seem -10 to hit, but possibly also to damage (I doubt he’d let it heal)], not needing attunement, expecting me not to want it. Of COURSE I want it! Immediately my mind went https://9apps.ooo/ to the equivalent of giving your brother an unplugged controller.
Can you think of anything funny to do with this boon?
The most straightforward idea is to save it until you can challenge someone to a duel. Then you've got that classic moment where both sides choose a weapon... just make sure you don't end up stuck with the sword.
You could use it as a bet. “I will give you the item, if you can hurt me with this sword.” Not hit, hurt. Because on a nat 20, they’ll still hit you, but it will still be hard to damage you. They’ll be rolling, I imagine, 2d8 on that crit, so they may do damage, but it will be hard. You could sell it to a sword master, who could then give it to people they are training, so the master doesn’t have to worry about getting hurt.

Turn it into a hunting trap capable of ignoring stoneskin. Bonus points if you manage to use it to hurt Juiblex.
Although the training idea is interesting would a sword master really want to use it? I mean, how effective is the training when the sword is forcing inaccuracy and you would be hard pressed to even hit a practice dummy.
Kind of like teaching your kid how to hit a baseball, but giving them a piece of rope the length of a bat, instead of an actual bat.
If you have a Forge Cleric (or a high level Illusionist), make the -10 sword look just like the famed Flametongue/Vorpal/whatchamacallit sword of the Warlord of Evil Gulch. Then have your party Rogue switch the blades before the big fight.

I like the training idea.

The obvious answer that comes to mind is that it's used for prisoners in trial-by-combat. Give them the cursed sword of sucking to insure they lose.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
I like this one.
