Im playing a fifth level assasin rogue, and was planning on multiclassing next level. I was thinking about maybe going for some levels of warlock or bard. Other class suggestions are good too since im not too sure what would work best. Overall im trying to build a sneaky, assasin character, but have many options in combat.
Genie Warlock works well with Rogue, you can disappear into your bottle, pick up Invisibility, Mask of Many Faces and other sneaky spells / utility spells.
The real weakness of trying to multiclass with a rogue of any type is that sneak attack can't be combined with spellcasting. That being said, Assassinate does function with spell attacks like Eldritch Blast or Scorching Ray (available to Genie and Fiend Warlocks).
Gloomstalker Ranger is a popular combo for Assassins, you have massively powerful damage potential on the first round, but after that your offensive power drops considerably, you could instead choose a different type of ranger if one catches your eye. Same goes for fighter, picking up a few levels helps a rogue out reasonably well.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Gloomstalker Ranger is probably the best combo with an Assassin, but if you don't want to do that, Hexblade Warlock is a useful two-point dip. At 1st level, you gain proficiency with Martial Weapons, which lets you upgrade your ranged attack options with the Heavy Crossbow or Longbow; and you get Hexblade's Curse which can help you fish for crits against targets that survive your first-round burst. At second level you can pick up 2 Eldritch Invocations; there are many good options here, but Mask of Many Faces and Devil's Sight stand out for an Assassin. If you choose to go deeper into Warlock, Hexblade will give you access to a range of Smite spells to further increase your damage in that critical first round.
If you tell us more about what you mean by having "more options in combat" we could maybe give you more specific recommendations.
