Hello everyone and thanks to anyone that would aswear to this thread
I need some tips and suggestion for a Blood hunter (archery style / halfelf / bg: investigator / order of Profane soul ) kinda look like a fusion beetwin Geralt of Rivia and Sherlock
I actually need specific suggestions: 1 - What kind of abilities should i have? 2 - What and how many feats do you guys suggest? 3 - which patron should i choose? and so why should i choose that one in particular? 4 - which rites , curses and warlock spells should i choose for optimize the utility/damage of my pg?
What version of the Blood Hunter are you using (in case you didn't know, a new Int based version was just released)?
1)You want to be able to make as many attacks as possible and stack as many damage riders on those attacks as possible. Plan for melee and being isolated from your party.
2)If you go hand crossbow (which would give you the most amount of attacks and insulate you against melee range disadvantage) then two feats (Sharpshooter and Crossbow Expert). Without being a Variant Human or having a house rule for extra feats, taking too many can leave you suffering from too low stats to capitolise on your abilities (unless you rolled high).
3)I Favor the Celestial here as I do in an actual Warlock. The ability to heal a party member at range for a bonus action is very potent and being able to heal your own Rite damage is an ideal situation.
4)Rite of the Storm should put you in a position to have your damage resisted the least out of the Primal Rites, but it's campaign specific. Hex is a go to spell for boosting your damage (and if you can get it off before combat, hobbling their initiative), just be aware you'll be tying up your bonus action heavily unless you routinely have your Rite active before combat. Curse of the Marked is great at being a damage dealer and Curse of the Eyeless gives you a decent defensive option. Cantrips I would focus on utility spells that don't use your modifier, like Mage Hand.
When it finishes rendering this is actually similar to our latest character build video, a Blood Hunter archer using the new 2020 version. It isn't a Half Elf Profane soul, but we link free build guides and you might find the general principles and advice helpful. If you're interested I can post a link to it when it's public, we also have a melee orientated Profane Soul, but that used a lot of what I suggested too.
Im using the updated matthew mercer version of the bloodhunter actually, and im a variant human with the extra feat at the beginning. I had to be much clear on that point infact i apologize i didn't wrote those characteristic. Otherwise im not complete satisfied of your answear even if is quite interesting and i appreciate a lot all of this suggestion
The champain we'r going to start it's based on a dark creepy word (similar to bloodborne and lovecraft base of atmosphear), full of vampires, ghosts, zombies and what ever the master will pull out on us trought based on horror mostruosity setting. I'd love to have extra damage on my rites in the same turn with apply spells on my arrows. And that's everything
