Curious to talk with other people about the racial feats present in one of the latest UAs.
Something that I am unsure of is why so many list "double your proficiency bonus" with some skill if you already possess the skill. Why not just do Expertise when they already have it, they function the same right?
I like the Elven racial feats to do with their spells, Drow in particular. Just sounds fun to have available in the early game.

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."

Bard Expertise and rogue Expertise function differently, and both are class features rather than core rules.

...they do the exact same thing? Both give 2x proficiency bonus is some skills, only difference being rogues can apply this to their thieves tools.
I guess I don't see 'expertise' as a particular ability more of the natural next step you take with a skill? Perhaps that is because I have been using roll20 and it just lists it as you you have expertise with the skill.
I looked at it like Jack of all trades (1/2)x, Proficiency (1)x, expertise (2)x.

I previously posted this in another forum, but I'm also interested in others' thoughts. This one was regarding the human's "prodigy" feat. I can share more details of my build if there's interest.
Maybe decisions have already been made regarding whether specific feats for races are making it into future books like Xanathar's Guide to Everything, but I'm hoping the prodigy feat for humans makes it in. It really helped me make an older (variant) human seem experienced in a greater variety of skills, tools, languages, etc., while still starting at level 1. My GM has allowed it and since skills, tools, and languages are fairly situational, this hasn't been overpowering
at level 1? You still have to get to level 4 to get your feat.

Oh yeah, that would make sense [why didn't i think of that].

Rogues can apply their Expertise feature to thieves' tools; bards can't.
