my dm created a boon to let me have access to a demon-like market for my necromancer...... and has not yet set limits to what I could get in it. The kid in me is giggling but the player in me knows the dangers of it. The question is how should I balance my greed and need with this?
It's the DM's job to control balance so get what you want and see if they permit it.

I always treat "boons" from the DM as a curse waiting to happen. Most of the time I'm right. You just don't know when it will go off. And it is a careful balancing act in many cases. Obviously they thought about it and developed it, so they have time invested in it. They know you want it and probably need something from it. So on the one hand, you could not use it, and then they feel like they wasted their time and either you don't get something like this again or they have something attack you because they feel affronted. On the other hand, you can use it and find out the pits and traps they have in store for you for using it. I would rather take a consequence from a character action than make the DM personally mad at me for rejecting his obvious ploy. Most of the time DMs are big people and won't take offense on whether you do or don't take an opportunity they provide, but you can't always shut down the opportunities or you will just lose them. Not for your character, but for you as a player. You'll have to set a limit and treat it like the trap that it is. If something sounds too good... it still is... be interested in the less flashy things and try not be interested to show back up too often.

If your character wouldn't look for balance, don't.

You are a player. The answer is: Greed.
Greed is good.
Take everything you can get. Maybe some stuff for your party members too, so they don’t feel left out.
