Hey so I am trying to figure out when a player was hurt, they took a short rest. I told them to mark it, and confirm the selection. Nothing happened. Are they suppose to roll, input the heal, and then mark the short rest? Or is it suppose to auto heal like the long rest does?
Short Rest is a moment when PCs can spend their Hit Dice, when they clicked on Short rest something should have popped up that would have asked them how many hit dice they would like to use.
I believe you still have to roll the HD yourself and add it to the HP as the system might not be integrated yet to roll HD for you.
Yeah I thought something should have popped up, I tested multiple times, and it just ask for confirmation, then the success box, and no hp change.
If it isn't implemented I can work around it, thank you for your response.
Hey also quick rules clarification. A lot of spells have the "cast at a higher level slot" I know in 3.5, or 4e there was a metamagic feat you have to get to do this, can the players just choose to cast at a higher level?
On Website it pops up on the right hand side - but in the mobile app a lot of features are still being ported over.
Yes in 5e Characters can just upcast spells no need for a feat. Again on the Website this will already be seen on the character sheet but mobile they are still porting features over.
O.k. wngdangel that's what I was thinking. I thought it should have auto rolled when you used the short rest button. I understand thank you for clarifying.
Similar issue. My character has 4 hit dice. On a short rest, I check how many I want to use, then roll and update my hit points. (Even with "automatically apply healing with dice result" checked, I have to do this manually.) However when I return for another short rest, I find all my hit dice are back to being unchecked. Shouldn't those I used on first short rest now be unavailable?
I've also tried checking "reset maximum hit points on this rest" but that seems to have no effect at all. Not clear to me when that would be appropriate, as opposed to using hit dice. How is that supposed to work?
I notice that my KI points are reset automatically on a short rest. So that's nice.
I think I've sort of figured out how to do this. Steps need to be taken in order. First check the number of hit dice I want to use. Second press take a short rest. Third confirm short rest. Finally roll the hit hit dice. Still need to enter the healing manually, but steps in that order do allow me to keep track of how many hit die remain.
I can’t see how to add a picture but when I select short rest I get the below pop up. There are little tick boxes to keep track of how many you use and if you have the ‘automatically apply healing’ option ticked then it rolls the dice and applies it to the character hp total.
Short Rest
A short rest is a period of downtime, at least 1 hour long, during which a character does nothing more strenuous than eating, drinking, reading, and tending to wounds.
RECOVER
Reset Maximum HP changes during this rest
Automatically apply healing with dice result
RANGER(Hit Die: 1d10+4 • Total: 4)
WARLOCK(Hit Die: 1d8+4 • Total: 2)

Much appreciated sir. Thanks again. I am on the browser using dndbeyond so, I will look to see what I could be doing wrong with the short rest.
This is what the Right side looks like for me if it help:

You would mark that Hit Die if you used it, then you have to roll and update your HP manually.
Lightning Strike - A rebranded Fire Bolt for Wizards & Sorcerers.
Spirit Bomb - A holy fireball for Clerics, Paladins, & Divine Soul Sorcerers!
Sword Dancer - A Cleric subclass specifically for the Drow goddess Eilistraee.
Quicksilver & The Scarlet Witch - A pair of magical firearms for your Gunslinger or Artificer.
