As the title says, has there been any update or change to the individual races of Ravinca?
I really like the idea of each of the races but found there actual bonuses to be really lackluster and disappointing. From what I read during the UA Test under some of races many players agreed, So I was hoping some decent changes were made to make each race feel more unique and have their own flare to them.
You won't miss out on much by not buying, to be honest. Minotaur is just another Half-Orc or Goliath, they removed everything interesting about it. Centaur lost the ability to let people ride them, as they realized centaurs could ride on top of centaurs. The Loxodon have a natural-armor similar to the Lizardfolk, which I guess makes them good druids or something. Vedalken can breathe under water a little, and get a free skill and tool prof. The Simic are the the only truly interesting new race, with their weird shifter-like stuff.
I just tried to make a Loxodon character and i was removed from playable races...I wonder if that is due to the updates?
The Ravnica races that were released for playtest through Unearthed Arcana have been removed, as the playtest period has officially finished, with the product being released.
Anyone who has a character using the UA version of the races may continue to play that character using D&D Beyond and it will work just fine, but it is no longer possible to create new characters using the Ranica UA races.
why would anyone use the new centaur? I am pretty disappointed, does anyone know why they nerfed it?
Centaurs riding centaurs riding centaurs. Since they refuse to make a large player race in 5e, they had to remove the medium race that could be a mount to medium races. (If you were talking about another nerf, I havent noticed).
I meant more along the lines of the charge and hooves racial being pointless and unwieldy
Charge
If you move at least 30 feet straight toward a target and then hit it with a melee weapon attack on the same turn, you can immediately follow that attack with a bonus action, making one attack against the target with your hooves.
Hooves
Your hooves are natural melee weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal bludgeoning damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Charge requires a)30 ft run b) a successful hit in that turn c) you must spend a bonus action
And all you get is an attack with a 1d4 dmg
There are a bunch of feats that have comparable effects without a) and b) requirements
Like shield master, tavern brawler, polearm master and two weapon fighting attack action.
In short they screwed it up. I would suggest disregarding charge and only allowing hooves as a bonus action under the "take the Attack action" condition. Remember, hooves allows a str bonus to damage where two weapon fighting generally does not. A centaur character still has valid choices for bonus action, and feat choice, str/dex mods and weapon/shield choices can guide that.
RAW, centaur will not use hooves unless they wish to be at a disadvantage or they are unarmed
The Simic Hybrid multiple appendages option at 5th. I assume for balance the mention of Hybrids being able to attack with them just provides alternative melee options and doesn't grant Simic Hybrids an extra two attacks per round with tentacles (or claws) in addition to regular attacks - was this clarified?

Correct - there are zero additional attacks gained. They are able to use the appendages as an unarmed attack, with added grapple options.
That is inline with other progression, what does that make the limbs useful for? A dedicated melee machine will likely have better weaponry available (either finesse or two hands?) they could (in theory) allow you over two attacks to grapple two separate targets. Not sure how many times that could be useful considering the grapple is a bonus action (so no reaction strike grapples). Can these two claws or tentacles be part of your limbs needed to climb a wall, allowing you to wall and ceiling crawl facing the enemy and still attacking with your regular appendages? Possibly. Thats about the best i can think up. Some nightmarish tick clinging to the ceiling chasing things in the dark swinging at heads as it passes.

There are indeed some changes to:
Mostly these are changing the proficiencies granted, but there are a few mechanical changes for race features too.
