Hey guys I’m somewhat new to DND. I have played in a few campaigns and helps with some encounter creation for s’ok friends but nothing big or continuous.
I have just started my first campaign (home brew mostly) and I was looking for an area to have general discussions about ideas and such, so as to improve my players and my experience.
i saw the general DM area but I was hoping to get input from DMs AND player characters
where would you guys say is the best place for me to take this discussion to? thanks guys!
If the discussion is between you and the other players - just make a Private Message with everyone invited into it.
If you are looking for help and advise in being a DM and running campaigns the DMs Only forum is the place.
If you are looking for help and discussion in building the lore and history of your world the Story & Lore forum is good.
If you're looking for help on interpreting rules officially (not as DM fluffery/homebrewing) then the Rules and Games Mechanics forum is your target.
If your thread is going to be a a mixture of these and more then the Tips and Tricks forum is a better fit since it's more general but still focused on in-campaign help and advice.

My content I try to make as close to balanced as I can and I don't have much creations but if there's one I would recommend is the petramera.
I have been a player and DM for not to long and I would have to say the best place to get ideas to make campaigns has to be in the DMG (Dungeon Master's Guide) and XGE (Xthanters Guide to Everything).
Try Planeshift (Not the spell) for unique locations and it would work best if a few of the members of your party play MTG...
I think that if a DM knows that a player will die after an attack that will kill multiple players, they should have a chance to save the closest player.
They could roll a D10, and anything above 5 would result in them saving the other player.Anything below 5 could go with the chart below
4: They save the other player, but the other player gets injured in some way
3: They both die
2: They both die
1: They both survive, but the danger, along with some magic, summons a bone devil.
