I had an idea for a house rule - and I wanted some opinions...
There are some spells such as Blindness/Deafness that grant the target a new saving throw each round. My thought was to allow the caster to use their action as a kind of "Spell Continuation" to suppress this save.
In other words, Wizard casts Blindness on Monster. Monster fails save and is blinded. On subsequent turns, Wizard uses their action and Monster remains blinded without getting a new saving throw.
On one hand, losing their action each turn is a big loss. On the other hand, keeping a bad guy disabled like this without a chance for a save is a huge win.
Also, there is a problem with the first round (since the Monster would get a new save before the Wizard has a new action) - so perhaps on the first round, the Wizard just needs to use their Bonus Action. (Alternately, to make it even better, the "Spell Continuation" could be a Bonus Action each round - but that seems too much).
Too strong. Those spells have continuous saves because their effects are already so crippling that they should only last 1-2 rounds, and since players often outnumber monsters this would be extremely easy to abuse. Also, a spell like Blindness/Deafness already has the advantage of not requiring concentration, so you can still maintain another spell like Slow, Levitate, Fly, Fog Cloud, Invisibility or Darkness to keep you safe.
An alternative that wouldn't break the game is to let players cast it a higher level to impose disadvantage on the first X saving throws rather than targeting more creatures. E.g. A single-target 3rd level Blindless/Deafness imposes disadvantage on the first save, 4th level on the first two, and so on.
