So, Wild Magic Barbarians gain a feature at sixth level that allows them to give spell slots to another character, so long as that character has the capacity for these slots.
This got me thinking about a home-brew spell that does the same thing.
The basic idea is that as an action, you touch another spell-caster and attempt to push your own magical energy into them.
2nd level at its base, gifting a first level spell slot
For every level you upcast, the level of the gifted slot also increases by 1 (3rd level for 2nd, 4th level for 3rd, etc.)
If you attempt to give someone an amount of magical energy they can’t hold, one of four things happen based on specifics:
1) You attempted to give a non-caster magic: The target takes 1d8 force damage per level of the given slot (you cast it at 2nd level : they take 1d8 force damage :: you cast it at 3rd level :: they take 2d8 force damage)
2) You attempted to give a caster magic above their capacity: The target’s highest level empty spell slot is filled and they take 1d8 force damage for every slot the given spell slot has above the received slot (You cast the spell at 5th level, attempting to gift a 4th level slot, but the target’s highest level empty spell slot is only 2nd level. The target gains a 2nd level spell slot, but they take 2d8 force damage)
3) You attempted to give a caster magic just below their capacity: Nothing happens for now, but if they take a short rest before the next long rest, they regain the attempted spell slot you attempted to give to them (You cast the spell at 5th level, attempting to give a 4th level spell slot, but the target’s lowest level empty spell slot is 5th level, an hour from then, the target takes a short rest, at the end of the rest the target regains a 4th level spell slot)
4) You attempted to give a caster magic very below their capacity: The Magic is wasted (You cast the spell at 2nd level. attempting to give a 1st level slot, but the target’s lowest level slot is 3rd level, nothing happens except that you lost a spell slot)
What I am wonder is, what classes/archetypes should have access to this spell, and what should the spell’s name be?

If you have any other notes, please give them.
