I am a DM for a party of 7 4th level characters (idk how there are so many now I know it’s a bit much). Recently they killed a cult of wizards who used a magic orb to absorb the life forces of elemental creatures to enchant their weapons. Logically they took the orb, and now I have to make rules for its use. I want it to be a cool thing with lots of customization involved so I came up with a whole system of charges and a table of enchantments. I have been DMing for a year and a half now, but I have never done anything like this before and I am very wary of how imbalanced the enchantments may be. The good thing is that my players would have to take down a high level elemental foe to get a super powerful enchantment, but I fear they might access those too early. The party is a group of teenagers irl and they value having cool stuff over the balance of the campaign, but I would like to provide an experience that is cool and balanced. I am asking here to get feedback about which enchantments are overpowered (I have know idea none of them could be or they all could be). The document with the list is attached below.
When in doubt throw the naked, fingerless, thief that you’ve been keeping in a sack and feeding rotten squirrels to into the fireworks tent hoping that it causes an explosion.
