As of now (At least from what I've seen/seen others post about-), you can't make a magic weapon (as this obviously is) and change the amount of damage it does... for some reason. The closest thing I can think of to making this is using an Antimatter Rifle (6d8 has a lower average than 3d4+2d12, but it's pretty close.) that does Force or Piercing damage instead of Necrotic, maybe with something for flavor (pushing back enemies? knocking them prone?). I'd probably tell your DM about the problem with making this.

OK so our group is playing a very homebrew campaign set in space and my DM has just awarded me this gun.
a Super-magnetic accelerated cannon Kinetifier
his instructions for it state:
This gun hums before firing as it charges up its shot. This gun shoots a hardened shell at incredible speed and range.
Range (500 - 2000ft)
+2 to hit and deals 3D4 Piercing damage + 2D12 Force Damage
once used it must be reloaded with an action.
My question is how on earth do I homebrew this?
