So recently watched the newest episode of Critical Role where Caleb casted Widogast's Web of Fire. I recently started playing in a game as a druid where I plan on going into the new UA; Circle of WIldfire. So spent a few night comtemplating on a new spell that dealt fire damage in a more druidic way. Here is what I came up with. I think it is fairly balanced, but I'd like some more opinions.
First thing that comes to mind is the duration is really long as compared to the damage. If you want to keep the damage where it is. I'd lower the duration to 1 minute, but if you want it to stay at ten minutes I'd lower the damage to maybe 2d8 (3d8 at most imo). I know it seems a bit steep but you're also creating difficult terrain in the chosen area for the duration as well as damaging them.
I agree 10 minutes is a pretty long time for it to last for that much damage... that said otherwise I really like it. That said, uh... where does the fire damage come from? The description seems to describe just creating a moist swampy area... I get the feeling its meant to be boiling hot, so maybe include a detail like that in the description. Simply replacing the word "fog" with "steam" would probably make a bit more sense.
Take a look at the substantially similar Hunger of Hadar Spell. I'd drop the damage down to 4d6 and reduce the duration to a minute to keep it in line with that.
EDIT: Actually, the 4d8 is probably fine, given that half of Hunger of Hadar's damage has no save.

took everything into consideration and reduced the duration and added an additional caveat to the materiel component.
