Dare you venture to the forlorn lands of Barovia and face the tyrant vampire Strahd? Grab your stakes and holy symbols in this famous, blood-curdling adventure, the Curse of Strahd!
This campaign is for players that want to conquer their deepest, darkest fears while trapped within a curse-stricken land surrounded by choking mists! Battle monsters from classic gothic horror memory, as well others who have been reimagined to give even veteran players a spooky surprise! But know this: Barovia is a harsh and unforgiving land — sunless and full of terrors — only the strongest of mind, body, and spirit will survive. Anything less and your fate is forever sealed, trapped in Barovia!
Welcome to the Curse of Strahd, Dungeons & Dragon's most popular horror-themed adventure module! In this adventure, players are thrust into the dark and foreboding lands of Barovia and must amass allies, treasures, and experience until they are capable enough to take on the titular villain himself, Strahd von Zarovich. But beware! Strahd is aware of your presence, and he has eyes and ears everywhere, as well vile plans all his own. Can you unfurl the vampire lord's schemes before he grows bored of your pitiful mortal meddling?
🩸 This module runs from level 1 all the way to 10, allowing you to experience mid-level play in one of the most iconic Gothic Horror settings!
🦇 Unique, homebrew additions to the campaign that will add fun twists and surprises without detracting from fan favorite storylines or the overall plot. Rest assured, you can still tell your friends you survived true-blue Curse of Strahd (unless you don't)!
🩸 Dramatic narration from an experienced storyteller that will help transport you to the frightful realm of Ravenloft, adding greater depth to the horror, thrills, and suspense that awaits!
🦇 Aesthetically consistent artwork for every NPC and location, each helping bring to life the pervasive sense of fear and dread!
🩸 Thematic musical scores and themes when and where necessary, eerie silence or ambience where it's not.
🦇 Uniquely voiced cast of NPCs, monsters included.
🩸 Bonus feat at level 1 (Var. Human / Custom Lineage excluded) Sign up and try your luck against the mists and monsters of Barovia in D&D's the Curse of Strahd!
Enter... if you dare! Details:
The typical session will begin by: - Joining Discord - Logging in to D&DBeyond to assure you character is connected both to our campaign and the VTT - Following the provided Alchemy link to join the game
Afterwards, we'll get straight to business and start the adventure proper! Roleplay, exploration, and combat are all major facets of the game and will be encouraged at every juncture. Don't be afraid to ham it up, play into the drama, and think outside the box.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS: This adventure is for those looking for a tried and true Gothic Horror setting. Some content may be unsuitable for those who are faint of heart or unwilling to brush up against certain uncomfortable topics. It is imperative that all players be willing to lean in to the horror setting both in and out of character for the betterment of the game and in the interest of overall fun. If any of this sounds like it may be too much, this game is not for you. I take sensitive, controversial, and/or possibly traumatic subject matter very seriously and with the gravity it so rightfully deserved. We will establish very clear Lines and Veils at Session 0 and discuss any potential disputes until all parties are satisfied.
While most games in the Ravenloft setting are unrelentingly grim, and Curse of Strahd is no exception, rest assured that this won't be a perpetual slog of misery and suffering. Will those things be present more often than not? Absolutely! Will the adventure be bereft of levity and humor? Absolutely not! After all, comedy and horror go hand-in-hand, and these intense moments of fear and funny will make you appreciate the other when absent.
Character death is a very real possibility at early levels, especially considering the fact that I rarely pull any punches and the Curse of Strahd is notoriously deadly in the beginning. Still, I think this will give the world a greater feeling of realism, and it will also incentivize a more cautious, deliberate form of play that will greatly benefit (surviving) players going forward. Sometimes a tactical retreat is the best option. All of that to say: it might be a good idea to have a backup character if the dice decide to curse you from the get-go.
About the DM:
Howdy howdy, everybody! I'm Origami, an avid DM and Player of multiple systems for nearly 10 years. My passion and excitement for improv and collaborative storytelling are highlighted best when I'm behind the table (or screen) surrounded by a group of like-minded, fun-loving folks playing tabletop role-playing games. I cannot help but get invested in my players and our games, so expect a lot of time spent out of the game discussing your characters, their stories, and the latest details of their adventure!
I am a working professional, have experience voice acting, and go above and beyond for all of my games! I have experience writing, acting, and playing in a wide-variety of genres, including but not limited to: High Fantasy, Gritty Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Post Apocalypse, Horror, Romance, Drama (Melodrama), etcetera. All of my games will include high-quality art assets, sounds, voice-acting, and storytelling.
My style is a healthy mixture of the three pillars: socializing, exploring, and battling. I can lean in whichever direction the group decides they favor, or can keep it steady with all three, but most of all I encourage role-play over roll play no matter what. "Rule of Cool" is a fixture in my games and I try not to get bogged down in rules lawyering — a wing it for now, look it up later philosophy.
