About Me Hello, everyone! I'm Crayon, a DM with five years of DMing experience with DND fifth edition, and a lifelong connoisseur of fantasy and fiction! My interest in DND began when my father allowed me to borrow his third edition Monster Manual when I was six. A few years later and I started playing with a family group, and I enjoyed creating these new, fantastic characters. It wasn't too long until I picked up the screen and began to run games! I've had experience DMing varied groups of people, be it old or young, and always seek to create an environment in which everyone can enjoy themselves. Other odd tidbits about me are I'm a fanatic for history, I'm a dog person, and I love language and how it can shape a sentence!
What are games like with me? I try to keep a gaming environment that is lighthearted, however, able to take a serious tone when necessary. I find that laughter is the best medicine, and while my jokes don't land, I assure you, yours will. I try to fit in character roleplay and descriptions anywhere I can within the game, even combat, and I try to keep the slog of numbers to a minimum. I take pride in my ability to make sure that every ability you take can becomes useful in one way or another. I've played in games where I never even got to use a class feature because it was so niche, and I didn't like it. I'm here to make every character choice count, so that even cook's utensils can have a purpose!
Setting Brief It's a homebrew, high fantasy setting with a few homebrew rules. The campaign will take place in the land of Portiu, which has semi-recently overcome the empire of the Aasimar. Even after the world has regained a sense of order after the fall, conflicts between the new nations are growing. With the seclusion of the elven kingdom (Glithyrin) the trade across the continent has become wild. The human kingdom of Sithrimil has lost their easy trade routes and must travel through Kargowthr, the land of the unseemly. Many other kingdoms haven't received proper supplies due to the raids of human caravans. The world is on the brink of war, and even the smallest disturbance could rupture the peace. You and a few other members of the local adventurer's guild were sent to deal with an unseemly disturbance along the southern border of Sithrimil, who knows what could happen.
Why play in a paid game? A paid game can be beneficial in a few capacities. 1: Consistency: When people pay for something, there is an incentive to partake in what they paid for. In addition, when someone is paid, they make it a priority to provide the product they are being paid for. This applies to DND as well! I have an incentive to run the best game I can, on time, every week. Players who have already paid for the next session will try their hardest to make it on time. It's a win, win! 2: Extra Goodies: I provide everything necessary for a great experience! Tabletop Roleplaying games can have an admittedly high startup cost, especially when you want to play as something in other source material. Not to mention tabletops! Whether it be subscription based or a one time purchase, they can be fairly expensive. I provide everything you'll need to get into the game and enjoy yourself. 3: Enjoyment: If you aren't enjoying yourself at my table, that's a big problem, both for me and you. It's of great importance for the table to be a safe and fun environment for people to enjoy themselves. If I want to keep you as a customer, it's on me to make sure you're having a good time. While I did this regularly at unpaid tables, there's higher stakes here for me here, so I'm going to do my hardest to make this a good experience for everyone!
Other Questions Q: What VTT will we be using? A: Foundry VTT. It's a small learning curve, however, you'll get it in no time! There's no extra cost for players, so we'll be able to get started quickly! Q: Will we use Foundry for Character Sheets then? A: No, I find DND Beyond to be a better system overall for character creation. I also provide most sourcebooks with character options, so there's no need for you to purchase extras. Q: Who's welcome? A: Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome! Of course there are rules in place to keep the table comfortable for everyone, but, as long as you aren't a jerk, you're very welcome! Q: How much roleplay to combat is there? A: I'd say it's a solid 60/40 ratio of roleplay and combat respectively. Q: How do I pay? A: I use Cashapp and xe depending if you're in or out of the US. The price per session is $15 US, excluding session 0 Q: How can I contact you? A: I prefer discord, It's easier for me, and I'm on it the most. Just pop my username into the Add Friend button.
