hi, i am a semi-experienced player. i am currently looking for 3-4 player and a dm to start a new campaign of any kind with, starting off with level 2 characters. The adventures will be Play-by-Post, with OOC being through either discord, facebook, or possibly Kik (probably discord).
i would like for the DM to be experienced, with at least 2 campaigns under his belt, and preferably with the DMG and PHB in his 'pocket'. my character will be a half-orc druid/barbarian. depending on the dm we get, it could be only base races, or it could be any race D&D has available at this moment, along with any class. I would also like to ask that only people that are nice and fun, knowledgeable about the game, and good roleplayers inquire about a place in the group. I hope for this group to have many adventures together, and would hate for people to leave because of other people being obnoxious or because they have no clue what's going on.
The campaign will have an XP progression, with encumbrance, unarmed strike, and a fixed hp rate.
Hopefully, we will have three days where we can post, though with the way we will have it setup in a thread the person who's turn it is can post their reply whenever they want.
once we have all the players and the dm together in one (chat)room, we can discuss any further details that may need to be ironed out. Once again, i thank all of you who will inquire, and hope to work together with you for the foreseeable future. :)
P.S. to those that inquire for a player position, please also post your characters general information, such as class, age, race, background, role (such as attacker, tank, healer, support, or Face), and their backstory, along with either a small picture or a description of your character.
P.P.S. To all DM's that post, i would prefer it if you didn't try to create a character to play in the group with. Now, if we turn up short a player, then yes, go ahead. Also, I will be working together with whoever gets chosen as the dm to straighten out the world lore. Speaking of which, the Game Setting will be in the Forgotten Realms, on the continent of Faerun. And by world lore, I mean stuff such as general magic level (highly proliferate), the level of technology (i was thinking for it to be at the point where tinkers have built machines that are magic operated but are different than normal Constructs. (an example of this being my [Tooltip Not Found] [ https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/43855-magitech-mobile-armor ] which becomes available at level 5 (info is right here[ https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/37893-magitech-mobile-armor ]
Thank you for considering this group for your non-profit employment. Have a nice day, everyone!
Hi there. I am interested, depending on the expected post rate. I love the PbP format, and can typically average a post a day, if needed, but I rarely see the pacing go that fast. I enjoy the narrative aspect of PbP, and love to try and improve my roleplay writing with each game. As for OOC, I have Discord only.
I have a character waiting in the wings who did not get to complete his first adventure, as life got in the way for our DM, and we had to disband, sadly. Here is a link to Thurgar Bakebean's character sheet. Just in case that doesn't work, he is a Level 2 Dwarf Ranger. He has a pack of +1 sling bullets purchased from a town just before our game ended, but I am happy to bust those back to normal sling bullets if that is an issue with the DM. He otherwise wields two simple handaxes and enjoys (trying to) cook. I would really like to get him back into an adventure and let him grow a bit.

Hey I have never done play by post but keen to have a go I have a high elf rogue I would like to try out
Highlander, Winston, and Donut, it would be an honor to adventure with you, my new comrades. Could all three of you go ahead and either message me a basic bio of your character using the guidelines i posted above, or post it here? and donut, the link to your character page doesn't work. only you can look at it, i believe, unless you are in a campaign
Backstory: Kuligall was born into a nomadic orc clan that traveled the wilds of the north. From a young age, he always had an affinity with nature in general, and animals more specifically. The clans' resident druid took him under her wing after she found him talking with animals, and started teaching him what she knew. But this life could not last for long. A group of cultists that worshiped a primordial evil poisoned the local water supply, causing all of the clan members to fall into an enchanted sleep... All that is, except for the druid and her apprentice. The cultists came into the camp, gathering everyone they could find into a ritual circle that they carved out, and then they started chanting. A dark portal opened overhead as the druids watched, helpless to do a thing since the poison had the side effect of blocking off the flow of all magic. Tendrils of dark energies flowed out from the portal, tethering to all present, orc and cultist alike, with a larger tendril being attached to the young Kuligall. As the life could be seen being drained from all present, The young half-orc could hear a deep, resonant voice echoing inside of his mind, telling him how it was going to take control of his body and bring a reign of terror down on the world like it had never known before. At this moment, something snapped inside of the youngling, and the connection did too, leaving him alone with his dead clansmen and enemies. Little did he know, that the snapped connection had left a portion of the old one in his mind, just waiting for the time that it could take over and be free... Since then, he has traveled south from the frozen northlands that stretch further than the dale's, in search of information that could be helpful in his search, and a way to stop the headaches that have been plauging him lately...
ok, so i had a new idea. Since we are level 2, unless you have a character from a previous game, we should roll a dice. the number of dice and type will be determined by the class-starting-gold option that you can take instead of your class and background starting gear. for example, our high-elf rouge friend will be doing a 4d4 roll, and multiply that number by ten. Now, if you have 2 classes, the class you roll for will be the second one you chose. you can use this method to buy some additional gear for yourself, and to have a bit of spending money when we start. cuz lets face it, we don't start with much gold to start off with. (but seeing how most items cost either copper or silver, we actually start off with a good chunk of change... huh, would ya imagine that...)
im up for joining with characters i have made quite a few a druid ranger barbarian monk paladin whichever one we end up needing most all most ready to go but some just need bit more detail but all basic stuff down
Sorry guys, i made a mistake with my post that quoted you. now, i am in a dilemma. with the 2 of you, we will have 6 people, and i was really hoping that we would get a female character, to offset all the testosterone in the room, such as it is. so, do you see my problem here? its not that i won't take the both of you, cuz i would gladly do it. but at the same time that i have this dilemma, i have yet to be able to recruit a DM, and when i get one, i'm not sure what group size he would be comfortable governing.
@Master_of_Wolves: No worries, really. I understand if I have to be the one to bow out, and I'm sure others do as well. With that in mind, my character application is below for yours and the DM's consideration. It may very well boil down to what the DM wants to manage and what they are prepared for!
Name: Thurgar Bakebean
Race/Class/Level: Mountain Dwarf, Ranger, Level 2
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Background: Soldier
Battle Style: Prefers his dual handaxes whenever possible, but will assist with his sling and augmented bullets as needed, so long as it means helping drop a beast. Thurgar regards himself as a bit of a lone wolf, which is why grumbles about the military so much, but he has been wizened to the value in hunting with a group. This can result in some very sudden changes in his battle tactics.
Story: Thurgar hails from the Bakebean clan, a small bloodline of Mountain Dwarves known for their odd cooking recipes and willingness to go out of their way for new ingredients. Thurgar has served time in the Town Guard at Elventree, earning the respect of his superiors and a fairly amicable, though distant relationship with the locals. They do not go out of their way to greet him, but they appreciate his presence. After his tour with the Guard, Thurgar took to hunting, seeking game for new an exotic recipes he had heard rumors of through letters from his cousin (Brundel Bakebean). While Thurgar has an extremely rough exterior, he is more relaxed and jovial in the kitchen, regardless if he is eating or making the meal according to the traditions of his name.
During his travels, Thurgar has encountered various giants. There is a part of him that gets a thrill from taking down creatures much larger than he, especially when they can talk back. He is no crazed killer, by any means, but the challenge of hunting a mark that can swing an axe back at him fills the young dwarf with vigor. However, he will be the first to tell you that giant meat is not really fit for consumption, unless you want to spend a few nights hugging a tin bucket.
well, hopefully no one will have to back out. you know, i just realized something... I am the ONLY spellcaster in this damn adventuring group... do none of you like throwing spells or something? lol

so, in the spirit of fairness, i'll post my character.
