Lets assume that 14 is the capstone for my monk abilities on an open hand warforged monk. So I have 6 levels to play with. Do I go 6 in fighter for 2 asi? Or Just 4 to avoid a wasted 5th level? What about the other levels?
@KyleGray, Which sub-class do you want to select for the Fighter class? If you want to multiclass your Monk PC into a Fighter class, you can not take weapons with two-handed and heavy property since these weapons disqualify as 'Monk Weapons'.
When I think "warrior monk," I imagine a dude in armor with one of those Japanese glaives. that doesn't sound like quite what you're going for though.
6 levels of fighter offer some fun things to play around with. A fighting style, ASI's, martial dice if you go battlemaster, more hitpoints. It could lead to a scrappier monk.
Personally I would say go 6 battle master fighter for the maneuvers.
Or, go Ranger and take gloomstalker for the WIS bonus to initiative and the extra damage on first round of combat. Or go Hunter and take colossus slayer, again, for the extra damage once per turn. Or horde breaker if you tend to fight multiple creatures.
I like fighter better than ranger for the con saves - take it at first level and go to Monk 8, then dip back to fighter...Shadow Monk / Blind fighting makes a nice death ninja, swinging a long longsword two handed.

This is completely wasted on a level 14 monk since, you know, Diamond Soul and everything. ;)
@OP. Depending on what you mean by "warrior soldier monk". The soldier part is best represented by the soldier background. The problem with Open hand is that it relies on you not using a weapon and many of the fighter stuff, at least battle master, relies on using a weapon. Otherwise, thematically, the Samurai goes well with the monk and lets you use your wisdom for Persuasion checks. That's a level 7 though so doesn't work for you. I'd go for cleric, rogue or ranger since those are the classes that fit best with the monk class.

14th level is a far way off and likely never to be seen, esp if you are going to multiclass. The con save is much more beneficial at lower levels. I am playing a Dark elf monk / fighter now and the con saves are absolutely critical to keep up darkness or faerie fire, much less the other benefits.

So what you are saying is that in a very particular build that we aren't even sure of if the OP has, your suggestion is marginally useful for a few levels? Yeah, sure, but it's so situational that it's not a very useful advice. Especially since OP seems to be expecting 20 levels of play.
Multiclassing to get a specific save that will be worthless later on is even worse.
I just feel he is more rocky than jet li currently. Just punching or in my case stabbing everything. I have a +2 spear with a number of charges and that is unlikely to be overshadowed so im usually better using my BA as weapon attack than flurry. Ranger 4 Cleric 2 gives me some cool abilities and the ranger subclass gives me all day damage upgrade. But its hard to ignore the big level 17 and 18 Monk abilities.

1 level tempest, 1 ranger/rogue 4 fighter looks good.
I have the stats (13 int) to go wizard I guess. War wizard perhaps. 4 fighter?
Ultimately I want to be playing into the warrior monk vibe.
What does it mean to be a "warrior monk" to you?
Pick the classes that fit that vibe to you. This is about your character.
