So I'm soon to be playing a Monk, and I've come down to a decision between Sun Soul, or Drunken Master. I know Open Hand exists but I think I a Drunken Master could be more fun to roleplay. The character I'll be playing is a young man who for (reasons) has to leave home and become stronger, through background he meets a master and learns his fighting style. The young man is lawful good, and is generally optimistic, I think it be really funny if he were taught by a grumpy drunk. I also like sun soul because ya know, Super Saiyans, I feel I could make it work with his story. I'm going to be in a large party consisting of a druid, a paladin, a bard, and 2 possible others I've yet to learn about.
So is Drunken Master worth it? Or should I go with Sun Soul?
Drunken master is perfect for a hit and run monk, while sun soul is all about smiting your enemies from a range. So it depends on what type you want to be in combat. At 6th level, Drunken master can turn a missed attack against it into a hit against someone else. So if your paladin closes their eyes and uses Great weapon master on you, it's most likely a miss, so you can turn it into a hit against someone else. 6th level sun soul basically allows you to cast burning hands after you take the attack action. Hope this helped you decide!

It did! I think when it comes down to it I've decided to go with Drunken Master, while it may not be the best subclass, it's certainly sounds fun to roleplay and it's abilities are pretty good when used together.
