Question: Is it balanced to give a level 4 Arcane trickster elven rogue an ability that allows them to move through solid surfaces that are at most 1 foot in width (with a limit of 1 minute once per short rest)? Lady Agatha, a banshee, gave them the ability.
in a world of three foot thick walls, yes.
ok ok, it will depend on how much it is going to mess up plans for them but that isn't a players' problem.
Not more than 5 times a day, but link that to level (so that it is still useful at higher levels).
also, study a lot of architecture.

I love me some flayers. In a noir-style campaign I'm in, there's an illithid colony called La Famiglia Cerebrale that's pretty much just the mafia, controlling things from the shadows (of which there are many) and routinely making people disappear. Perhaps the best result of flayers being the mafia is that Deep Speech is canonically Italian. And my character can speak it.
Crossover with Star Wars and the Mon Calamari species starts to make a lot more sense ... though Quarren look a bit more like Illithids than the Mon Cala.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
Today, with some of the folks who I was DMing for pre-pandemic (in person). We got back together, new game (tossing the old game aside, those characters will become NPCs) because it'd been so long. Everyone made new characters, starting them at Level 3 (since we'd gotten up to level 6 before, but a few of them hadn't played D&D prior to the game that ended due to COVID and has not played any D&D since) - so starting it slow, but with a few levels (and their class specialties picked out). First few sessions (no idea what those will be yet) will be easy combat - get folks back into the flow - before going into the real story (no idea what that is yet either). But so damn excited to play with these folks again in person.
That’s great! I’m excited for you! Something similar is hopefully going to happen to me soon. A dear friend (mostly a mentor) of mine is coming back from South Korea this summer after teaching there for three years. He was my first GM and our game ended when the pandemic hit. We played online for a bit but when he left we were cut off for reasons still unknown to me. I hope to find him again when he returns so our little group can all be together again.

By this I mean the seven most remarkable locations in your homebrew world, natural or otherwise. The Great Tree. There was a massive tree taller than any other tree in the world, that according to legend - was the spear of the goddess of elves who'd thrown it down to stop an angel, who had gone to the mortal plane to fight "evil" - but had lost sight, and began killing anything that even had a hint of evil. This was confirmed in one of the games, when the party was given a vision to go save a dryad who guards that tree - as cultists were gathering to do a ritual, which involved killing her - to release the fallen angel. The party got side tracked, and so the cultists succeeded. (In my game time keeps moving, it's not like a video game where the villains just wait for the heroes)
Eagle Rock Island. Eagle Rock has a massive mountain where the Rocs once lived; and were used by the Lord of the island as means of transportation and even for delivering things to other neighboring areas. However, a dark curse fell over the island and the Rocs departed soon after that happened. Eagle Rock (for which the island is named) towers so high at its highest point that it peaks over the clouds easily.
Shadow Island. Similar to Eagle Rock, Shadow Island has a massive mountain in the center of the island whose peak is the highest known in the world. The island gained it's name because in the way the shadow of this massive island moves around the island, similar to a sun dial. Supposedly a giant, appointed by the gods, to "watch over the world" once lived in its peaks - until (evil) dragons came to put an end to him. Powerful magic was used on both sides, giving the island a rippling effect of magical energy coursing throughout the entire island.
The Broken Lands/The Gold Coast. Once the most lush forest of all the world, it was changed forever when an elf - desperate to be rid of the orcs in the world - unleashed magic forces he had no control of (opening portals to various planes, in search for help) - which resulted in these creatures of the planes waring throughout the forested area instead. So furious was the goddess of elves that - according to legends - was so ashamed by what this elf had done - that she wiped the entire forest away leaving only desert - taking with it, all that lived there. The barren desert was ripe with all the magic of the planes, however, and took on a life of it's own. So much magic residue existed that the very sand itself rippled with magic. The sand moved, like living water; unnatural creatures surfaced (sharks from the nearby ocean evolved into swimming through the sand like water). The land eventually became home to nomadic humans, who learned to deal with the shifting sands. The natives call it The Gold Coast, but many others call it the Broken Lands.
Those are the main four so far, found by the parties that have roamed my game.
Question: What are the seven wonders of your world?
Well, conveniently, my homebrew world's main story continent is broken up into seven regions, each based on the schools of magic (excluding Necromancy for reasons you can probably imagine). Each region holds a wizard tower in which dwells one of the Seven Marvels, the masters of their respective schools and ultimate authorities of their regions. But if I wanted to get a bit more creative and specific than that:
1. Magopolis, the gleaming capital city of the Magos Empire, whose magnificent spires hum with arcane energy. 2. Krystallo Mountain, where magic itself coalesces into a crystalline form that can be mined, purified, and put to use in various magical inventions. 3. The Krym Desert, where the only constant among the shifting sands is the central oasis town around which everything revolves. 4. The Elatos Mountains, a vast mountain range from which the most skilled stone artisans and architects carve their materials, and where dragons are said to dwell. 5. Mount Nychta, the mysterious dormant (one hopes) island volcano whose caldera has supposedly never been seen by mortal eyes, around which many dark rumors swirl amidst the choking ash. 6. Fort Choton, the primary bulwark against a massive invasion over a century ago, surrounded by old battlefields where even the most grizzled soldiers dare not tread for fear of what haunts those blood-soaked lands. 7. Halosia, the bustling metropolis where industry thrives, magical and mundane research blossoms, and new lives are begun.

So, this is tough-ish, because naturally the people of Wyrlde's realms all disagree entirely o what constitutes a wonder and are just, well, really annoying.
THe easy answer is The Seven Cities. Sibola, Aztlan, Akadia, Durango, Dorado, .Qivira, and Lyones. But that *is* cheating, lol.
It is said that within the secret places, beyond the valley of the Bitter Road, there are five lakes, and that the waters of these lakes are able to restore youth and vigor, prolong life, and defy death. They would be one.
In the Unknown lands, it is said that there is a vast mountain, that has been carved into a city that is ruled by dragons, and it is called Skycrest. The problem, of course, is that the city is ruled by dragons, and they really do not like people. That would be two.
There is the all but mythical Ancient Land. Many would put this at the top of their lists. There is no map to it that is known, but there have been those who survived the journey there and back, telling tales and describing immense wonders, before they succumb.
Although very few will ever see it, there is Zefir, the island of the Conclave, raised by the Powers That Be themselves, setting aside nine entire compounds within a fortified location capable of housing the retinues of each leader of one of the realms -- though why 9 is unknown, as there are only 7 within the Empire. The Emperor himself has not left the island in a decade, and most figure he sees it as his rightful and personal space, though he has no access to the compounds other than that belonging to Sibola.
In Aztlan, the Aztani have build a massive tower that looks out over the Sea of Hearths, to stand watch over the channel that leads to the heart of the Bright Realms, should invaders ever come again as they once did -- they are ever alert for the ships of Thule or the threat of Duat, and Lemuria's black sails are forbidden those waters by the great tower and its many eyes. It is the largest building in any land save perhaps for the fabled three towers that rise in the heart of Lemuria (The Black, The Dread, and the Blood).
Some would say that The Laughing Goddess -- an inn that has been in more than a few plays, lays, songs and stories -- is one such. It is said that it has 100 rooms, and vast stables, and that it is run by Power called Antelle, and appears wherever her whim desires, vanishing overnight.
Lastly, of course, there is the Floating Mountain of Cabra, which was once the home and hearth of the wizard Cabra, and which floats above the realms in a strange and difficult to trace cycle, always only glimpsed. It is not much to look at, they say -- a strange, flat topped but immense rock on which there lies a Keep, the chief feature of which is a massive windmill. It is rumored that many of the Mages of Akadia wou7ld give their eye teeth and many, many people's lives and souls to possess such a marvel, for they hold that many ancient spells long forgotten are held there, and that Cabra once held the knowledge of all the Words of Power, gained in his search to extend his own life beyond the five score he was allotted.
Since I set Wyrlde up to be a place for other people to play in, I didn't really create much stuff like that, but those all come to mind -- some of which figure in the adventures I am still working on, lol

Like Tawmis, I have also begun a new game. I wanted to run a game but because I’m *still* writing the big campaign, I needed something easy. Enter “Out of the Abyss.” I got some friends together and we started the adventure and my oh my is it chaos.
We have a Dragonborn Paladin, Half-elf Rogue, and a Pureblood Fighter. I took some liberties in terms of story when prepping for session one, and I altered the stories and personalities of some characters and they ended up being a big hit. Some features of session one were:
• Mistress Ilvara of House Mizzrym has been altered thematically to be a Professor Umbridge-style character that has pink, flowing robes and a strange cat-arthropod thing that follows her.
• One PC befriended a spider and it has led to some wacky moments where stow can’t quite decide what to do with the “Spider-blessed.”
• The lovable mycosis spore Stool has been brought into the party and he has taken to calling on player mom. She, of course, is plotting ways to get rid of him once they’ve escaped, and perhaps to have a nice mushroom and vegetable stew after that…
• The PCs have brought one quite insane drow with them out of the prison because his dear brother asked them to save him. His ramblings make stealth a wee bit tougher.
• Finally, the PCs used a small bit of bone sharpened to a shiv to kill the orc bully in the beginning of the adventure.

Hah, when one of the players in my game was DMing his own session and had invited me for Out of the Abyss, our High Elf Cleric managed to befriend a spider as well; though she never followed up with it too much (we were forced to "milk" the spiders for their silk).
I am surprised Stool would be considered for a dinner; not read the Out of the Abyss adventure (I have it, but always run my own world; usually get it because it has new monsters to use), so maybe the player who ran Out of the Abyss that I was in did this as a custom thing; but he'd made it so Stool could make telepathy a thing.
Is the insane Drow actually a Drow or one of the other things the Drow enslave? Because we had someone in the party as an NPC that swore he was either a prince or king of a kingdom...
And said Orc, was he one of the NPCs in the game as well? Ours perished due to a mimic that took the form of a cake while we were in combat... Very odd. lol

This game is a monthly game so I won't bog down the thread with a ton of updates. I think our first official game is August 5th.

This is funny to compare. It is not the prince or king, this is a drow who is supposed to be infested with spores, but I made him have a different story in this adventure. Your orc met a painful fate! Ours died swiftly, though not painlessly… Stool naturally has telepathy, but our dear rogue doesn’t quite like how he’s grown attached to her.
Just so you know Spotsa, on the thread I was asking help on yesterday, I remembered how to add the spells, they just weren’t appearing on the sheet. I already answered my own question, since all the spells that were on the list were not primary basic rules spells. Just wanted to clarify after I deleted the thread.

Very odd. lol

Yes!

Hi, I’m DrakenBrine, here’s my Sig and characters
I am The Grand Envisioner!
Why would you delete your thread?
You should leave them up so other folks with the same kind of question can benefit from the answers given =)
