*I'm still trying to figure out why I'm having trouble getting into this tavern. I think it might be because I wanna play a PC but they can't really level up or gain a layer without, you know, killing people, which is nigh-impossible if you can't level up and you join late like I did those times. But that doesn't really make sense, does it? Because a lot of taverns don't allow you to surpass the level limit at all.*
*Another possibility is that it's because I have a hard time getting my footing in the setting. Like, I get the basics, but I haven't been able to... I guess get caught on the hook. It feels like the setting is completely hopeless (which seems to be the intent), and there's nothing I can contribute to it.*
*So in other words, it's a bunch of "me" problems. But I still wanna try again.*
*The xp per day system gives you a new level every 5 days, so as long as you don't go starting fights too early on, you should be fine to make it to the high levels. Unless you're talking about using a character sheet instead of a statblock, in which case you just have to talk to the mods to bring that character in and/or level them up.*
*I'm referring to a character sheet, which I've discussed with Cyno previously. They only get xp through killing.*
*I don't like the statblock system, in all honesty. Even with all the options, it feels limiting.*
*There probably should be another way for them to get XP in my opinion. We do definitely need to make rules for player characters but haven't gotten around to it yet.*
*update 3: the devil has a character sheet*
*I could bring in Mushisama’s two kids with that update*
*I also could bring in gabriel nightwatch*

Malrick is reading a book of ancient lore, his power seems to be regaining, his wings will still not carry his weight though.
Umbraveth is in a chamber deep beneath the earth of his layer. His isolation is complete, nothing could reach him now.
Z looks for his next victim.
The wall of flesh finished another item to add to his collection.
*This is assuming they are doing so in Mushisama’s Soul Garden*
Ghost is chasing a specter of a rat through the hedges, catching it multiple times before it goes through their paws. Meanwhile, Mushisama is dancing with an elven spirit to a song Malrick can’t hear.
Malrick smiles, setting his book down beside him. He begins to compose a letter while drinking some tea.
Ghost eventually grows tired of chasing the mice, yawning before jumping next to Malrick, looking at the paper and pretending they know how to read.
Malrick strokes Ghost’s fur while looking off into the distance. “An old enemy of mine is trying to find me.” He speak softly, just loud enough for Mushisama to hear.
The layer ruler hears the statement and says farewell to the spirits. He walks over and ‘sits’ next to Malrick, his centipede-esque legs folding in on themselves, which only shortens the figure by a few feet. “I certainly hope it is not Corellion. I wish to be on better terms with my previous kin now that we are somewhat equals.”
"I have wished that for a long time, I did not realize true evil until he killed me. I hope that he is satisfied and leaves me be. You however, do not deserve to be here. I wish to see you leaving this place one day."
Mushisama stays silent for a moment. “Sigh. I do too. But I am connected to this new world of mine. The enemies. The friends. An ecosystem which I may play a small role in, but a role none the less. Even if that were not the case, this layer of mine is home to every creature I helped create, and unless something horrible happens, none of them will disappear just as they did on the material. It even serves as a place for those who have no afterlife to turn to.” He gestures his gloved hand to the still dancing humanoid spirits. “It is everything I had ever wanted, and I fear leaving likely will cause it all to fall.” He chuckles slightly, his masked head staring straight on to his replica realm. “Besides, I may still watch the material, so I know it has been doing mostly well without my presence.”
Malrick gazes off into the distance, mulling his words over. “I see, I have had similar feeling while here with my friends. I feel a great sense of responsibility in protecting them, such was the reason for my sacrifice. I also have a duty to my people, I hope they continue to thrive without me. I also do not wish do die again, it was never meant for me to come back to life after dying. It was a painful journey, and I have several souvenirs from my time beyond death.”
“Hehe. Yes. Hope and Reason have always been adamant about their ideal that those who come back without their permission must earn it. On the subject of your people, I believe you will be overjoyed to hear they are thriving.” He pauses, seeming to ponder on whether to say the next sentence. “I… could show you their present lives if you wish?”
Malrick looks up. "I wish, but I fear it not to be possible. The gods keep any sort of communication of mine from reaching them."

I’ve always been more of a… watcher, than a talker, even when I took action. The Crystal Springs simply allow me to observe through the eyes of those I once ruled. And I once ruled many.”

Malrick stands up, still looking like he doesn't entirely believe that this will work.
Mushisama guides him to the center of the Garden, which boasts a monumental sized formation of crystals, growing all the way to the layer of floating ones that separate the ceiling from the ground. The same is reflected above, a stream of flowing water connecting them. Two large crystals of the formation create a kind of entrance to the structure, which Mushisama promptly enters, gesturing for Malrick to follow. From out here, it seems nearly pitch black, but the sounds of cascading water and a light hum resonates from within.
