Malrick steps out of the pool. He seems, different. Party of his body float apart, then come back together. In a few minutes he seems to be in his normal state, aside from a purple glow that emanates from around him.
A letter flutters down to land in front of him, scarlet colored and sealed with the stamp of a sword.
Malrick looks down it curiously, he checks for traps then opens it.
Investigation check. Inside is a folded note of white parchment, black letters scrawled on in perfect penmanship.
Former King Malrick,
I pride myself as a creature of battle. It is my sacred duty, as one of the once-divine, to uphold order. Your very existence as a bastion of strength threatens my goals. I write this letter, this invitation, to formally challenge you. Refuse, and you will find there are much worse consequences than death.
Signed, Correlion, Blade of Rend

Malrick looks up to the sky searching for Correlion, soon his gaze falls upon him. "Why must you do this to me?" He whispers.
Correlion’s shadow passes overhead, landing around 40 ft away. The angel’s metal feathers make a grating sound as they rub against eachother, Correlion’s face impassive as it watches Malrick. “You must have known this was to happen. I will not simply watch one that opposes me grow in strength. I was born of blood and of battle - it is all I know.”

Does a king fight every battle? No, he has soldiers, knights, and champions that have trained for this. I have trained in ways of the mind, not of war.

Correlion scowls. “I have studied both, intensely. A king must be willing to fight the wars he instructs those beneath him to fight in. Though I am no ruler and I shall never be. To place myself on a pedestal above those that grovel for my attention sickens me. A king that cannot stand for his honor is no king, and has never been.”
