Many a bard's tale tells thrilling stories of the Tower of Shadows: An ominous spire that extends seemingly infinitely into the forever twilit sky around it, full of terrifying monsters and treasures untold. Several fledgling monster hunters and treasure collectors have attempted to raid the Tower and plunder its wealth. Those who didn't turn back early on, were never seen again. One can only imagine the horrors that brought their demise...
...But recently, a promising band of adventurers have set their sights on the Tower. For what reason? Who knows? Wealth, glory, enlightenment, the Tower seems to promise all of those things, and perhaps even more. Perhaps their party will even grow in size, as there may be wandering adventurers within the Tower itself. Regardless of what awaits ahead, one thing remains true: These heroes are determined to rise to the challenge, and make the climb.
Before anyone asks, yes, I did get permission from KingOfCharge to make this dungeon. Yes, it's meant to be similar, but I'll change up enough to make it interesting. If you want to join, read the rules beforehand.
The Rules:
Players can join at any time by selecting a Class Kit, where they will be grouped up with the main party. Those who simply wish to spectate may join as a Camera Drone.
Melee characters are often prioritized by enemies, so if your melee character is being swarmed, it's nothing personal.
Every floor has at least one combat encounter, in which everyone on the player team moves first, enemies second (unless specified otherwise)
Each character gets one action, with which they can attack with a weapon, cast a spell, use an item, etc.
Alternatively, you can perform an action not listed, with which I can try to create an appropriate effect. These actions are risky, but they can pay off very well.
If a character is knocked to 0 HP, they are Unconscious. The unconscious party member cannot take any actions, and dies if not healed within 1 round. A dead character cannot take any actions until a specific item or spell is used to Resurrect them.
Should the entire party die, one item of each character's equipment will be lost, and they will start at the Tower's base. If the Elevator has been unlocked, the party can use that after dying *more on this in the Extra Rules*
At the end of combat, all characters regain all their HP, consumable abilities are recharges unless specified otherwise, and dead or unconscious characters are revived to half their Max HP, rounded up.
One character, without any level-ups or magic item enhancements, can only carry 3 weapons, 1 armor, 1 spell, and 5 magic items at a time. Extra equipment can be stored in the Rucksack. *more on this in the Extra Rules*
No PvP allowed. The Tower's monsters are dangerous enough without the party at each other's throats.
Be Nice and Respectful to other party members. Leave any baggage you have from other Taverns and threads at the door, and take it with you when you leave.
No vulgar or inappropriate talk or actions. We don't know the ages of the other people here, so keep things PG-13 at absolute most.
If you have any questions, or need something clarified, DM me and we can discuss the details of the problem without breaking the flow of the game.
Extra Rules (For the Rucksack and the Elevator):
The Rucksack:
All party members share one Rucksack between them, which can store 3 additional items.
The Rucksack does not apply to a character's carrying capacity, nor do the items inside of it.
Items inside of the Rucksack can only be accessed outside of combat, nor can items be placed inside of the Rucksack during battle.
The Elevator:
After clearing a Miniboss or Boss floor, the Elevator will be active on that floor.
Should the party find themselves back at the Tower's entrance, they can use the Elevator to go up 5 floors at a time.
The Miniboss or Boss that normally occupies the floor the party arrives at is absent. However, some enemies and bosses of previously cleared floors above the Elevator may return.
Well, that's everything I could think of as far as rules. Now, on to the Class Kits!
Guard's Kit: A melee-based build meant for tanking damage and dealing damage back. Consists of:
Guard's Spear (weapon, 4 melee damage)
Guard's Chainmail (armor, +5 Max HP)
Guard's Shield (item, reduces melee damage taken by 1, to a maximum of 5 damage absorbed per round.)
Scribe's Kit: A magic-based build designed as a high-damage glass cannon. Consists of:
Scribe's Notebook (item, +1 maximum spells)
Scribe's Robes (armor, +1 spell damage)
Ink Bolt (spell, 4 magic damage)
Magicka Blast (spell, 11 magic damage, once per floor)
Cleric's Kit: A healing-based build designed to keep the party alive. Consists of:
Quartz Dagger (weapon, 3 melee damage, heals anyone on the party for 1 HP)
Cleric's Vestments (armor, +1 to all healing effects)
Rose Quartz Talisman (item, heals any party member for 4 HP)
Musician's Kit: A buff and DPS based build designed to deal consistent damage and empower the party. Consists of:
Bard's Instrument *instrument of your choice* (item, +1 targets for damaging spells)
Flamboyant Attire (armor, +1 maximum spells)
Power Chord (spell, 2 magic damage)
Power Ballad (spell, increases the damage that one party member deals by 3 for this round)
Hexweaver's Kit: A debuff based build designed to weaken the enemy. Consists of:
Hexing Thread (item, +1 turn duration of debuff effects)
Hexing Needle (weapon, 2 melee damage)
Cobweb Robes (armor, +1 maximum spells)
Weaken (spell, reduces an enemy's attack damage by 2 for 1 round. The effect does not stack on the same enemy)
Bleed (spell, the target only heals half as much, rounded down, for 1 turn. The effect does not stack on the same enemy)
Once you've selected a Class Kit, you should be all good to go! I'll make sure to adjust the difficulty as more players hop on, but that's everything for now. Safe travels, heroes: It's time to climb.
*edit* Whoops, I forgot to say what a character's starting HP is. All characters start at Level 1 with 20 HP.
A Scribe stands at the base of the Tower of Shadows, hands on his hips. *I know this probably doesn't matter, but:* He's a wise-looking tortle, with dark green scales and a kind smile. He wears flowing red robes, with a worn out notebook tucked away inside them. "Seems like the perfect challenge. Exactly what I've been needing." He says to himself in his gravelly, grating voice.

*Is everyone set to go, or do you guys want to wait for more people?*
*I was thinking maybe at least one more person, but I'm good with whatever.*
*Same here*
*Yvonne, I wanted to ask about the musicians ability:
Bard's Instrument *instrument of your choice* (item, +1 targets for damaging spells)
When it says +1 targets, does that mean that, for example, if I cast the spell power chord, that I do 2 damage to two different enemies?*
*My character:*
*He's a little shorter in the picture than I hoped, so maybe add an inch or 4 to his height and you've got the right idea. I know looks don't matter in this, but I don't want to be giving out false information lol*

So when we reach 0 HP, we are Unconscious. And it says that we have to be Resurrected before we can do anything again. SO, after looking through the Kits, none of them had a Resurrect ability. I'm assuming that the only way we get this is by finding magic items as we adventure, correct? Or does any amount of healing bring them back also?*

*Any amount of healing can restore an Unconscious player back to fighting shape. However, if a party member is not healed within 1 round of being knocked down, they are Dead, and can't be revived using basic healing magic. Thankfully, all dead and unconscious players (unless the whole party is wiped) are brought back to full health after each floor is completed.*

Well, it doesn't seem like anyone else is going to join, just yet, so let's proceed onward... into the Tower of Shadows!
Welcome to the first layer... the Septic Sewers! This floor's piping systems funnel waste from everywhere in the Tower out into the unoccupied caverns below, and while it has mostly been picked clean by adventuring parties, there are still some treasures to find among the rubbish...
Anyway, let's hop right into the combat with some rodents of unusual size!

I will attack rats 1 and 2 (Using my instruments special ability to hit two enemies with damaging spells) With Power Chord. 2 damage each, if I'm reading that correctly.
With an respectable amount of damage being dealt in the first round, the Large Rats are a little intimidated. That doesn't stop the remaining two from focusing their damage towards Yondor, though.
