(It's +2 in addition to your +1 int mod, so you got a 15)
Gus attempts to cast Augury, trying to ask beings beyond himself what is beyond the western door, but sadly the spell fails, because you need a material component that costs 25 GP. (Components are still a factor in spellcasting, sorry for not mentioning that beforehand)
Cedric pushes open the door with relative ease, on the other side, he sees a very barren room, save for a small silver key hanging on an even smaller black hook on the western wall.
Whoever designed this place certainly enjoyed confusion... an entire room dedicated to a small silver key - for a door that isn't even in here? Madness.
After scanning the room, I slip my short sword back into its battered scabbard, watching warily as Gus strides across the room, collects the key and returns to the previous chamber.
"Dwarf... Gus... I'm starting to think this is no tavern cellar. Do you have any recollection of how you got here?"
I pause a moment, then walk over to the hook that held the key. Could be useful.
Gus: You walk over and poke it with your staff, as it turns out, it wasn't on that hook very securely, so it ends up falling off. You then decide to pick it up... Nothing seems to happen. You walk over to the northern door from the previous room and attempt to push it open, it pushes open with ease, on the other side, you see another green slime, similar to the one you fought before, but this time there is another green slime horizontally parallel to the first.
Cedric: (You should've added +1 for str) You attempt to pry the hook from the wall, it gives resistance, but you manage to pry it out of its socket.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Sorry! I'll remember my modifiers!
My very own hook! Now I just need a line, some bait, a deep freshwater pool - and we're in business!
I follow Gus to the doorway of the next room and groan at the sight of two slimes lying in wait.
"Where in the hells are these things coming from?" I grumble, nudging Gus forward, and drawing my short sword. I attempt to help him with a word of encouragement: 4
"Gus, I pray you've found your aim - why not try giving one of them a quick blast with your magic-stick-thing? I know you've got it in you!"
Edit: I say, insincerity and sarcasm dripping from every word.
Steve, after quietly following the group for a bit, decides to take the initiative (ba-dum-tshh) and attacks the slime first. Too bad he missed entirely... (Also yes, add dex mod, but you don't have a plus to dex, only str.)
Who's this lumbering bafoon! He's going to get himself killed - can't even stick 'em with the pointy end!
Rolling for initiative: 17
Edit: Barelled out of the way by Steve, I lose my footing on the dungeon floor, dropping my sword and having to take a few moments to recover it.
(OOC: I'll use my help action wherever I fall in the initiative order. Also, in future fights, will we establish initiative order before deciding our action?)
Okay, in the spirit of being fair (and because this is kinda sad to watch), spellcasters now get a +2 bonus to casting spells, starting now.

Send help pleaseUgh, this green gunk will never wash out... and what’s this dwarf up to now? Chanting like a lunatic...
”Do you do everything the hard way?” I say, after a few moments of watching Gus mutter divinations to no avail.
Stepping over puddles of slime, I press my ear to the western door, and listen: 15
Cedric presses his ear up to the western wooden door, on the other side he hears nothing, there doesn't seem to be anything moving.

Send help pleaseWell, wherever we are - between zesty slime and a dwarf with serious arcane issues, I’m just about ready to leave.
“If you’ve just about finished your finger wiggling, Dwarf, I reckon this is the way out.”
I push the door: 9
Cedric pushes open the door with relative ease, on the other side, he sees a very barren room, save for a small silver key hanging on an even smaller black hook on the western wall.

I forgot to roll initiative last fight, sorry, this fight please roll initiative.
Slime 1 initiative: 16
Slime 2 Initiative: 17
Edit: I forgot to mention that there is another wooden door to the west in the room you are in, and there weren't any doors in the room with the key.

(Yes, that would be preferable, but this is fine if we can't end up getting one going. Also, what are you trying to help with?)

Send help please(I’ll help Gus with any ability he’s attempting - or attack he makes - assuming he does either of those things)
(Okay, then after you perform the help action, Gus will get advantage on his next roll)
