It's a brisk morning as a light fog covering the road is starting to lift. The sun just starting to rise is casting long shadows in the parties route of travel. The weather is cool but it promises to be a pleasantly warm day. Which is good the party has a long walk along the road before their search begins.
A small band of adventurers step out the gate. The guards nod and wave them along reaching the end of his shift his attention is slipping.
Going to run this as a one shot so it might be a little different then the normal Forest of Wonders play through.
I'm adding a few different random encounters and the tower will be a dungeon.
Can you please let me know your level I'll be I using average party level for threat instead of total Party level.
Last I find it fun if you RP how your rolls go. I'll let you know all DCs prior so you can do so.
Basic template for this adventure. 3 threats to the step off point. Going to search for the tower in the wood by rolling on the table till we find it. Rolls will be at advantage to find it. Once in the tower it will be a multi room tower with traps, mobs, and a big bad. Last phase is a trip back with the gear (assuming we get it) to get it safely to town.
(ooc: Hadrian is level 3. I will join the RP battles, I enjoy doing it but when I am short on time, the creative juices do not flow. XD I like the idea of doing a one shot. Do we know when we can do a short rest and/or a long one as it will be a few days walk?)
"Yes, one stick of beef. I do not mind that it is from last night, no. its very early, I understand."He said goodbye to his favourite stall that is just putting up his tables and gave him a good tip.
Hadrian had an early start. He went through the streets quickly (to stop at his favourite stall) then went on to meet his party near the gates. While he walks, he uses small bits of charcoal to scribble on his sheepskin parchment and does mapping as they travel.
Will be using an average party level of 4 for them encounters. As far as short restscwe can take them as often as we want asking as everyone agrees and Long rests are 1 a day with a min of 8 hours between.
As everyone gathers in the morning light ready to hot the road an older elvan gentleman approaches the party.
Tommy my boy I see you found a group to support you in my task. You lot are making an old elf in the final centuries of his life very happy.
He smiles warmly but the smile dies not reach his eyes as he shakes everyone's hand individually.
Good luck make the road find you fortune and a swift return.
He turns and heads back into the city.
If you have a passive insight that beats a DC 16 read the spoiler.
Aa the elf shakes your hand you get a slight tingling sensation. It's ever so minor and almost noticeable.
Tommy turns to the others. Well friends based on the Intel Hadrian gathered we've got a 15 mile ish hike to the turn into the woods. Best guess it will take us 5ish hours. If we are lucky and nothing slows us down we will make it by lunch.
The party sets off in high spirits. The first few miles of the hike are met with much laughter as the party travels to the out skirts of the farms that surround the city of Dolsela. Tommy is the party anchor with his short kegs causing the other 3 to stop and let him catch up from time to time.
What is everyone doing? Tommy would be tring to learn more about dragons from Jetsam and asking him to teach him some darconic.
Hadrian is still chewing on the grilled beef stick. The meat have been gone since the gates of Dolsela but the stick serves to keep his teeth grinding. The effect he intended from the beginning.
Hadrian sometimes gets too focused on details and his mapping suffers because of it, his grinding his teeth seems to ease the tunnel vision and he is able to focus on putting down direction, terrain and distance more accurately on the sheepskin parchment that he carries around.
He would sometimes speak with the halfling to ask him how he sees the terrain (nature) so he can accurately capture it on his map.
"Master halfling, I think its time you give me your name, else I will need to call you halfling the rest of the way which to me is too impolite."
The stick has gone frizzy at the end that he is chewing so he chomped down on it from a fresh part of the stick and swallowed it, then he started chewing again.
Nature: 5 think Tommy too focused on the conversations.
Did I not tell you my name? It's Tommy this here is Jerry I'm a woodsman of sorts. And please don't call me master. Where I'm from that's not a good title.
"I mean no disrespect. Well met Tommy, and Jerry."He scratched his head on the terrain but was otherwise able to discern distance and direction on his map. He continued cartography as they travel.
Muriel begins messing with her hair ande braided it while they were traveling, and Muriel then says to Jetsam, "That was a great sparring match, Jetsam, maybe we can do it again sometime."
Hadrian was not particularly interested in the fight between Muriel and Jetsam but he would like to strike a conversation with both. There is not much chance to get Jetsam to talk so he looked back at the party and slowed down a bit to level with Muriel and Jetsam.
"Ah, that is right, you two engaged in a mock combat earlier. I was not there, how did you two fare? If I may ask?"
As the farm land starts to be replaced by the start of the forest. Conversation starts to die off as the tress grow thicker and taller. Turning a corner the party finds themselves next to an open clearing. 20ft north of the road there is a fire that was recently put out.
Tommy looks around someone's been here recently. Maybe another partybahead of us?
Jetsam laughed. He had no problem with admitting he’s lost. “She kicked my arse.” He said, answering Hadrian. And to answer Muriel, he said “Aye, it was. And we should. But next time, I choose the weapons.”

Jetsam answered Tommy’s questions, even though he’s not exactly talkative. (OOC: can I get some examples of questions?)

OOC: mostly flavor Will be making dragons my favorite enemy next level.
Where are dragons from, what they eat, where they sleep, likes, dislike, weakness, how to kill them help them, what are the different types

(I’d advise looking them up in the monster manual-And Jetsam is a blue Dragonborn, btw.)
